Inherent requirements of the position:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders and clients
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Resident of the local community (within a district)
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Basic Counselling Skills will be advantageous
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours which may include weekends from time to time
  • Valid drivers’ license and own transport will be an added advantage
  • Valid Code 08 Drivers licence will be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Mobilise clients at high risk of acquiring HIV to get themselves tested for HIV
  • Responsible for accompanying the index testing Lay Counsellor at all times and never to leave the counsellor by him/herself
  • Complete the index testing collection tools and the daily submission of these tools post the testing
  • Complete the index testing register of DOH as well as the HTS Register and collectively responsible for the register to be returned to the DOH facility
  • Assist in mobilising consent for Index Testing both at a DOH facility and/or contacted clients telephonically
  • Assist with the HIVSS kit distributions and the follow-up of the HIVSS results per individual
  • Mobilise the clients that we tested to Opt-In on the USSD system of BRHC
  • Compile the daily performance report
  • Be POPIA compliant
  • Coordinate the archiving of the source data at the office
  • The stock control of the stationery inventory for index testing
  • Be safety conscious at all times
  • Making and confirming index testing appointments, telephonically
  • Community mobilisation for HTS as and when required
  • Assist in making follow-ups telephonically to all positive clients who have not yet been linked to care and to schedule ART linkage appointments on behalf of the linkage officers.
