Human Resource Organisational Development (HR OD) Consultant

Description:

Job Summary: Pact is seeking a qualified HR OD Consultant to provide support on a variety of human resource functional areas and provide fruitful human capital advice. The person will help Pact develop, optimize and upgrade our processes such as training and development, training analysis, developing manuals, etc.

The ideal HR OD Consultant will possess in-depth knowledge of human resource management with experience in consulting as well as dealing with actual HR issues. They will be strategic and analytical thinkers, problem-solvers, resourceful and possess excellent communication skills.

The goal is to maximize the value of our HR endeavors that will help the organization and its people.

Objectives

The consultant will develop a training and development manual, a standardized compensation manual, perform training analysis to properly identify training needs, etc. The consultant would also proffer modern and relevant solutions to Pact on how to best take the HR unit forward and optimise HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct trainings for all supervisors on conducting performance evaluations.
  • Leadership Fundamentals: Training supervisors on mentoring and coaching approaches.
  • Support the development of a Compensation Manual.
  • Conduct a skills gap analysis on existing staff and identify current capacity which can be up-skilled to deliver on new functions, and additional skills needed to deliver the strategy and regional program.
  • Analyse internal/external data for talent acquisition, talent management and talent retention, identify trends, implications and possible solutions.
  • Develop and conduct in-house training on Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Talent Retention. Develop and maintain training materials and user manuals as well as systems documentation and standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Conceptualize a data driven approach to drive talent initiatives, organization interventions and changes management efforts.
  • In collaboration with Unit heads, work on staffing and development to ensure optimal returns on investments in people.
  • Review the outputs from the periodic performance reviews and moderation exercises, report and advise leadership on their implications for operational performance, succession management and employee engagement.
  • Work with the Heads of Departments and Line managers, to design and implement staff training and development strategies and plans to ensure identified needs are addressed with suitable training interventions.
  • Development and implementation of tools to actively drive the process to grow internal cohesion and shared organizational culture. Apply behavioural tools for assessment of organizational culture and develop materials/conduct trainings for cascading organizational culture.
  • Create and deliver HR related training sessions.

Deliverables

  • A training and development guide for Pact West Africa.
  • A report on all trainings carried out as indicated above.
  • Strategy and Implementation Plan for making HR Management policies functional.
  • Behavioral tools for conducting organizational culture assessment.
  • Action plan/critical path in place for HR issues related to the change management.
  • Hard and soft copy of a Training and Compensation Manual.
  • Training manuals for conducting the various trainings indicated above.
  • Review of the outputs from the periodic performance reviews and moderation exercises, report and advise leadership on their implications for operational performance, succession management and employee engagement.
  • Final report on consultancy detailing achievements, challenges and the next steps prepared and submitted two weeks after end of contract. Ensure all developed materials are reviewed, approved and finalized by HR Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Talent Management and Line HR areas preferred.
  • Minimum of first degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration or any relevant discipline is required.
  • Professional certification in Human resources from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Nigeria or its overseas equivalent (e.g. HR Certification Institute (HRCI), Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to speak, present, and facilitate in group settings – both in person and virtually.
  • Relationship and influence skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong analytical and consultative abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to effectively discuss and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiently in MS office suite – Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word.
