Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position is to facilitate the engagement of victims trafficking and survivors of violence, who are receiving support from Agar Ethiopia in income generating activities and employment schemes and form saving and credit cooperatives according to the government cooperative formation guidelines. It is also to follow-up the smooth running reintegration services and facilitates the provision of psychosocial support to victims trafficking and survivors of violence.

 

Scope:

The IGA/Reintegration Officer/Social Worker takes active part in the development, coordination and implementation, monitoring and follow-up of all reintegration programs. S/he takes the lead responsibility in the development, coordination and implementation, monitoring and follow-up of all income and employment generation and legal establishment of saving and credit program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. IGA/Reintegration management Responsibilities:

Main Activities

  • actively take part in the implementation of the program and review and development of quarter, biannual and annual plan;
  • responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual plan for the program;
  • responsible for documentation of individual business plans, saving and credit records of trafficking victims and elderly and producing report;
  • actively engage in developing strategies, guidelines and manual for income generation, saving and credit program;
  • identify skill training needs of trafficking victims and plan and organize trainings accordingly;
  • identify feasible business opportunities for the engagement of beneficiaries;
  • serve as a re-integration officer for all re-integration and re-unification activities including family tracing, job placement, post integration follow up, keeping the necessary data and records;
  • responsible for the facilitation of the formation of saving and credit groups;
  • responsible for facilitating the legal registration of saving and credit groups as a cooperatives;
  • conduct business skill and saving and credit group formation trainings to and elderly;
  • take active part in developing partnership with organizations that have common values and approaches with Agar Ethiopia and widening Agar Ethiopia’s network;
  • ensuring the identification, collection, and distribution of reading and other informative materials for Agar Ethiopia;
  • liaise with sub city/ woreda officials, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth relationship;
  • work closely with the program team to develop annual, bi-annual and quarterly plans, budget and reports;
  • facilitate the provision of psychosocial support to trafficking victims in cooperation with the nurses;
  • take active part in the preparation of project proposals;
  • take active part in developing partnership with organizations that have common values and approaches with Agar and widening Agar’s network;
  • ensure that all external project funding agreements are complied with, including narrative and financial reports;
  • whenever relevant conduct regular visits to Project sites to develop first-hand knowledge of projects;
  • work closely with the admin and finance team to ensure that program team gets timely support and monitor budget expenditure in a timely manner;
  1. Human Resource Management:

Main Activities

  • conduct monthly supervision meeting with the program team members, who are directly accountable to him/her;
  • facilitate and monitor the implementation of regular performance appraisal of the program team members;
  • facilitate the identification of human resource development needs in program team and ensure the availability of required staff members from program team;
  1. Other duties:

Main Activities

  • support the development and implementation of cross cutting issues in Agar Ethiopia;
  • Give peer support to other members of the team;
  • act as Agar’s representative to raise the profile of Agar Ethiopia;
  • undertake other assignments to ensure the achievement of Agar Ethiopia plan when required;
  • undertake other assignments given by his supervisor;

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in IGA program management and social services provision.  NGO-based experience, work in a multi-cultural and multi-national context and work experience in the humanitarian field are advantageous.

The IGA/Reintegration Officer/Social Worker must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • demonstrated knowledge as a result of study, training and practical experience in business administration, social sciences and/or related field of development;
  • proven progressive development professional in similar management roles;

  • knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization;

Agar Ethiopia Charitable Society is a national non-governmental and non-profit making organization established in 2005 and re-registered in 2009 with Charities and Societies Agency of Ethiopia as Resident Charity Organization.

Since its establishment in 2005, Agar Ethiopia had implemented over 15 projects in the areas of Elderly Support Program (ESP), survivors of gender based violence (GBV) and Trafficking Victims Reintegration Program (TVRP) using its centers located in Addis Ababa, Oromiya, and Amhara Regions.

Agar Ethiopia has three levels of organizational hierarchies. The highest hierarchy in the organizational structure is the General Assembly (GA) which is the highest decision making body that provides overall general direction and control of Agar Ethiopia. The Board of Directors is the second highest governing body of Agar Ethiopia. The board of directors is elected by the GA and constitutes seven (7) members. Being directly accountable to the GA, the board of directors ensures the implementation of decisions made by the GA. The Secretariat makes recommendation to the GA on matters of policy, which shall govern the activities and operations of the organization; reviews and endorses action plans.

The third level is the Secretariat led by the Executive Director who is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the organization. Currently, Agar has 45 regular staff members. There are also volunteers and par timers depending on the nature of works.

Agar is working with different stakeholders in implementing Elderly Support Program (ESP) which supported more than 700 elderly people,served over 900 _different beneficiaries under Trafficking Victims Reintegration Program (TVRP) and supporting over 450 survivors of gender based violence (GBV).
