Role In-Country Consultant (Benin)

  • Altamont Group is seeking a dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant to serve as an In-Country Consultant for an Endline Study in Benin. The consultant will act as the primary contact in Benin, working closely with the HQ Team (Lead Evaluator, Data Analyst, Regional Researcher, and Country Coordinator). The consultant will coordinate and execute data collection activities, ensuring compliance with our data gathering protocols and ethical standards. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collected in Benin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination and Communication
    • Serve as Altamont Group’s main point of contact in Benin
    • Collaborate closely with the HQ Team (Lead Evaluator, Data Analyst, Regional Researcher, Country Coordinator)
    • Abide by Altamont Group and client requirements, maintaining professionalism throughout the project
    • Ensure all deliverables meet client expectations and adhere to the Terms of Reference (TOR)
  • Data Collection and Oversight
    • Develop and manage data gathering and logistics plans and budgets.
    • Recruit and train enumerators for data collection as per the approved budget
    • Oversee enumerators in Benin, ensuring compliance with Altamont Group’s evaluation protocols
    • Participate in and supervise data gathering in Benin, ensuring ethical practices and adherence to sampling strategies
    • Ensure the collection and collation of consent forms for data gathering
  • Data Validation and Reporting
    • Ensure that data is coded, collated, and validated as per the sampling strategy and Altamont Group’s evaluation protocols
    • Provide cleaned quantitative and qualitative datasets for analysis
    • Contribute to the final endline report with data from Benin, including Indicator Tracking Tables and insights
    • Provide daily updates to the HQ team and submit field data in approved formats
    • Support with findings validation sessions/workshops in Benin
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Complete any other in-country project-related tasks as assigned
    • Save copies of all deliverables, tools, frameworks, and protocols in the designated SharePoint folder
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or a related field
  • MUST be fluent in French and English
  • Must have excellent writing ability in English
  • MUST be resident in Benin
  • Proven experience in managing in-country evaluations
  • Experience working in international development or with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is an asset
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Robust expertise with Kobo and KoboCollect
  • Strong knowledge of data collection protocols and ethical considerations
  • Experience with recruiting and overseeing enumerators
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in Office 365 including Word, PPT, Excel, SharePoint
  • Analytical and multitasking skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines efficiently
  • Strong critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work independently

What We Offer

  • The total deliverables-based compensation for the In-Country Consultant in Benin for the Endline Study is Euro 1,500.00
  • The level of efforts is around 25-30 days during the period of six months from March 2025 to Aug 2025
  • Travel expenses related to data collection will be paid separately
