Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is a not – for – profit, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that was founded in 2004 by Josephine Ogazi and Joseph Egwuonwu. WEWE started out as a Community Based Organisation (CBO) with the aim of providing scholarships and economic empowerment to orphans and widows in Okigwe, Imo State and has since expanded its aims and objectives. WEWE is registered as a national NGO with CAC under incorporated trustees and its registration number is CAC/IT/NO33132.

Job Title: Information Technology (IT) / Video Editor, Short-Term Consultant

Job Summary

  • Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE), a women-led, faith-based NGO, is seeking a short-term Information Technology (IT) / Video Editor Consultant with expertise in video editing, uploading online courses to hosting sites, and monetizing YouTube pages.
  • The consultant will be responsible for videoing ready-developed course content, managing the organization’s social media accounts such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), and monetizing the organization’s YouTube channels.
  • We invite applications from experienced information technology and video editors who have evidence of creating course content videos, uploading them on hosting sites, managing social media accounts, and monetizing a YouTube channel.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • S/he will collaborate with staff to understand training objectives and content.
  • S/he will develop video outlines, shot lists, and visual storytelling approaches for each training session.
  • S/he will prepare filming locations, ensuring proper lighting, sound, and background setup.
  • S/he will record training sessions, presentations, and demonstrations by managers.
  • S/he will operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to ensure clear visuals and sound.
  • S/he will capture supplementary footage (slides, charts, office activities) to enrich training videos.
  • S/he will edit raw footage into structured training modules (adding graphics, subtitles, transitions, and branding).
  • S/he will integrate PowerPoint slides, infographics, or screen recordings where necessary. S/he will ensure videos are optimized for YouTube (titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails).
  • S/he will work with the IT team to schedule and publish training videos.
  • S/he will monitor video performance and suggest improvements for engagement and clarity.
  • S/he will prepare and test all necessary equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting, batteries, storage devices, etc.).
  • S/he will capture candid and emotional moments that highlight the theme of the training
  • S/he will record short interviews with trainers
  • S/he will deliver a short highlight video (2–4 minutes) summarizing the training
  • S/he will submit deliverables no later than 3 working days after the video shooting
  • Any other assigned duties from the supervisor

Requirements
Educational Qualification:

  • Applicants should have OND, HND, or a BSc. Degree in Mass Communication, Film/Media Studies, Fine Arts, or related fields.
  • Diploma or certificate course in videography, cinematography, or digital media.
  • Applicants must have their own camera to perform the job.
  • Two samples of previous video editing work done as reference.
  • At least two professional references.

Required Experience:

  • Applicants should have 2–3 years of professional experience in videography, video editing, or media production
  • Applicants should be proficient in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Capcut, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects).
  • Applicants should know camera operation, lighting, and sound recording.
  • Applicants should have a strong storytelling ability and creativity in visual presentation.
  • Applicants should have a good understanding of YouTube algorithms, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and digital content optimization.
  • Applicants should have experience in Live Streaming Video and Audio in real-time.
  • Extremely strong computer skills, with knowledge of relevant publishing software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Desktop applications Publishing (Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, PDF, Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDraw, and Canva).
  • Experience in Media Production, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Mailchimp, Google Forms, and Instagram).
  • Extremely strong in written and oral English language with research writing skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on creative approaches, attention to detail, and efficient delivery methods.

WEWE’s main goal is to advocate for, and promote the rights of widows, vulnerable women and orphans in Nigeria and Africa at large.   • Sponsorship of 12 University Students and revolving grants to 39 widows.
  • Community mobilization of 20 communities in Imo/Abia.
  • Provision and prevention from Mother To Children Transmission (PMTCT) education to 750 caregivers.
As at June 2015, WEWE has reached a total of 15,006 vulnerable children and 4854 VC caregivers within 7 years with the following services:

Registered with CAC under incorporated trustees CAC/IT/NO/33132 in 2009, Widows and Orphans Empowerment organization (WEWE) initially started as a community based organization (CBO) in 2004 with a one man staff working on orphans scholarship programme in Okigwe Imo State.Today, WEWE has over 40 full time staff and 20 volunteers based in Abuja, Anambra, Imo and Abia with a focus of reaching a total of 52,602 children and 17,554 caregivers by September 2016.
