In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian Government and other international donors.

GIZ Ethiopia is recruiting an GIS intern for the Support to Responsible Agricultural Investments (S2RAI-II) Project as specified below.

Position:                                       Intern on GIS and remote sensing

Place of Work:                               Addis Ababa

Responsibilities

The GIS intern will report to the GIZ-S2RAI-II Project Manager. The intern is responsible to:-

  • Assist on the implementation of Commercial Agriculture Management Information System (CAMIS), monitoring of Large Scale Agriculture Investment (LSAI) using remote sensing and other project activities.

Tasks


Implementation of Commercial Agriculture Management Information System (CAMIS)

  • Assist partner organization in the implementation of CAMIS
  • Assist to encode investor data in to CAMIS data base
  • Assist rolling out of CAMIS in other regions
  • Assist staff training on the utilization of CAMIS and NRLAIS at federal and regional levels
  • Assist testing of CAMIS and NRLAIS integration in Bambasi Woreda, Benishangul Gumuz region.
  • Assist in compiling best practices and lessons learnt

Monitoring of Large Scale Agriculture Investment (LSAI)

  • Assist Benishangul Gumuz region in field data collection for LSAI monitoring
  • Assist Benishangul Gumuz region in the analysis of remote sensing imagery and report preparation

Other duties/additional tasks

  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

  • First degree on GIS, remote sensing and geoinformatics;

Professional experience

  • 0 years of work experience

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good level of knowledge in using GIS and remote sensing technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit.
