Consumer Unity and Trust Society -Centre for International Trade, Economics and Environment (CUTS-CITEE) Nairobi, is a regional think tanj duly registered in Kenya in the year 2000.

CUTS Vision and its underlying centrist ideology combined with the experience of its leadership suggest values to guide the implementation of its agenda in the pursuit of its aspirations. These include adhering to high standards of transparency and accountability; adoption of a ‘Centrist Approach’ in research, advocacy networking and capacity building; ensuring outcomes rather than just outputs; focus on subject and geographical areas where a vacuum and need exists; responsibility to enhance the capacity of various stakeholders and partner organizations across the developing world; and continuous strengthening of human resources within the organization to ensure consistency and timely delivery of good quality of work.

The Centre’s mission is ‘pursuing economic equity and social justice within and across borders’ through policy advocacy and empowering people. To consolidate its work in the East African Community (EAC) region the Centre is currently looking for an Intern.

Terms of Reference:

  • Researching and writing on topical issues related to its programmatic areas.
  • Assisting the Programmes staff in management of on-going projects.
  • Contributing to the production of CUTS publications.
  • Developing information bulletins such as policy briefs and economic articles.
  • Monitoring the current economic situation with regard to various trade and trade-related debates in Kenya, the EAC region and at the continental level.
  • Engaging in the Centre’s resource mobilization efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Law or equivalent, with a bias in International Trade; a Master’s degree will have an added advantage.
  • Must have completed studies or awaiting to graduate.
  • Have a strong interest in regional and international trade.
  • Knowledge of competition policy issues will be a plus.

Skill Set

  • Highly innovative.
  • Excellent writing skills. Knowledge of statistical analysis tools, desktop publishing and design will be an added advantage.
