The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill the following vacancy for its country office.

Summary of Job Description:

He/she will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains procurement records/files related to vehicles, medicine and purchasing of different items.
  • Prepare letters and fill forms regarding logistics activities such as letters to Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Food Medicine & Health Care Administration Authority, Ethiopian Airlines Cargo, Charity’s and Society Agency, Information Network Security Agency, vendors and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding collection of price quote from country office, inform when payments are ready.
  • Performs data entry of the vehicles logbook every month.
  • Keep records for imported items data of receiving documents, support letter, pre-import permit, tax payment, items receiving date etc.… on the shipment tracking sheet.
  • Keeps record of travelers’ flights in order to arrange vehicles.
  • Asist the preparation of catalogue for all supplies (medical, office equipment, reagents, food items, office equipment, electronics etc.) needed by various programs.
  • Ensures timely reporting of accidents to insurance company & follow-up claims in close consultation with Assistant Logistics Officer.
  • Ensures and cross check that the vehicle has up-to-date insurance cover and that they have undergone annual inspection by deadline in close consultation with Assistant Logistics Officer.
  • Provides reports on accidents to the Assistant Logistics Officer immediately and completes the insurance forms within 24 hours.
  • Handle financial transactions and effect payments after getting approval from the supervisor.
  • Provides summarized monthly logbook activity report for all Country office, Regional and Sub regional office vehicles to the Logistics manager and/or Assistant Logistics officer.
  • Assists his/her supervisor in every admin & finance issue of the logistics team.

Required Number: 1 (One)

Terms of Employment: One-year contract with a possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:  

  • BA in Logistics Management, Business Administration or related fields
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience

Additional/Desired Requirements:

  • Strong analytical skill and able to generate professional reports
  • Good computer skills, particularly in MS Office packages
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Able to present recommendation letter from the most recent employer
  • NGO experience is a plus
