Jembi Health Systems is a not for profit organisation specializing in Health Information Systems and Digital Health. They partner with international organizations like MSF, the Rockefeller Foundation, UNICEF, CHAI, MSH, CDC and USAID to provide software solutions to improve health outcomes in low resource settings. Jembi Health Systems NPC is currently involved in a number of key projects aimed at addressing national health challenges identified by the South African government.

Jembi seeks to appoint a Junior Software Engineer to be based in South Africa.

The purpose of this position is to help execute on the key goals of these projects. In this role, you will help to develop, support and maintain products and/or services in various types of environments. You will also be able to contribute to business and architectural decisions through agile & collaborative development processes. Some of their core products are open source and available for you to check out on Github. On the team front, they run a tight-knit, agile team, each with particular skills but at the moment they are very excited to be able to grow their group of talented software engineers.

Required:

  • Information Technology or Computer Science Degree (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Java, C#, C, C++, Kotlin, Node JS or similar
  • Solid understanding of web technologies and protocols
  • Experience with NoSQL database development e.g MongoDB
  • Experience with well known relational databases such as mysql, postgresql etc.
  • Additional Skills and Experience:
    • 2 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
    • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Digital Ocean
    • Experience with Ansible and Docker
    • Experience in developing using an OOP language, advantageous
    • Front End development experience with Angular or React frameworks
