About Us

L’Albero della Vita ETS is an NGO promoting human rights in Kenya and all across the world, operating in child protection, education, migration, development, emergency, providing support to vulnerable children and communities.

We are looking for a motivated Country Representative based in Nairobi, to join and lead our team in Kenya.

Location: Nairobi (Kenya). The role requires frequent business trips to other cities in the country.

Employment Type: Full-time, hybrid work both office and remotely.

Reports: Head of Programme (based in Milan)

Job Description

As the Country Representative, you will oversee and manage all aspects of our programs and operations in Kenya. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with local stakeholders, ensuring program effectiveness, and representing (L’Albero della Vita ETS/The Tree of Life Trust) to various external entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the country office based in Nairobi, ensuring efficient operation and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance The Tree Of Life’s mission in Kenya.
  • Foster relationships with government agencies, local NGOs, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure objectives are met and resources are utilized effectively.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
  • Report on progress, challenges, and opportunities to the regional and global leadership teams.
  • Represent L’Albero della Vita ETS/The Tree of Life Trust at meetings, conferences, and other events as required.

Human Resource Management

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of local staff.
  • Implement HR policies and practices in compliance with local labor laws and organizational standards.
  • Overview the staff development, and employee relations.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Program Management

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects.
  • Ensure programs are effectively managed, monitored, and evaluated to meet objectives.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Qualifications and essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior management role, preferably within an NGO or international development context (minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience in related fields).
  • Strong knowledge of the Kenyan socio-political environment and local development challenges.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, reports, and program implementation.
  • Fluency in Italian and English; proficiency in Swahili is an asset.
  • Deep knowledge of Convention on the Rights of the Child, Child safeguarding Policies and a passion for the our mission
