CISP is looking for a livelihood and food security expert to support the development of its country programme in Sudan.

CISP started its activities in the country in 2019 and it’s currently seeking to strengthen its programme focusing on the response to emergencies related to food and nutritional insecurity.

The PM will oversee the implementation and coordination of the AICS funded emergency project in Gedaref State and will contribute to the identification and pursuit of new opportunities

If security conditions and visa procedures will allow, the PM will be based in Port Sudan with possible travels to Gedaref. The possibility of referring to other CISP offices in the region (Nairobi and/or Addis Ababa) will be assessed.

Programme management/development

  • Ensure coordination and quality management of projects implemented in Sudan in compliance with CISP’s management system and donor’s requirements, with particular focus on the livelihood and food security sector.
  • Ensure continuous relations with donors, submission of quality and timely narrative and financial reports. Support processes of external evaluations and audits.
  • Ensure innovative approaches are included in existing and future programs in order to increase positive impact on project beneficiaries.
  • Carry out field missions to monitor ongoing projects and strengthen the collaboration with partners and beneficiaries.
  • Identify and coordinate the relations with implementing partners (defining and signing MoUs, review meetings, etc.).
  • Provide overall support and guidance to CISP local partner organization with a strong focus on organizational development to achieve set objectives, as well as compliance.
  • Support and supervise day to day programme implementation, including staff management, revisions to project design, workplans, activities and planning, budgets and recruitment of project staff
  • Ensure quality and timely communication and reporting with all relevant stakeholders such as colleagues and partners, authorities
  • Facilitate and oversee capacity building, in-service training sessions, on-the-job training and mentoring support to CISP staff and partners.

General tasks

  • Attend meetings and workshops with local authorities, donor representatives or key stakeholders.
  • Guarantee coordination of CISP promotion activities in the country, by ensuring constant supervision of the development of new proposals.
  • With the advice and under the supervision of the headquarters, ensure the strategic development of the programs and the presence of the organization in the country.
  • Ensure compliance with the procedures and policies of CISP and donors.
  • Support the development of the Country Strategy / the Country Strategic Planning.
  • Identify possible partnerships both at specific project level and at strategic level.
  • Ensure CISP qualified visibility.

Managerial and administrative responsibilities

  • Supervision of project/country financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance of all expenditures and purchases with CISP management system, donor procedures and the requirements of national legislation.
  • Ensure the management of human resources deployed by CISP in the programme.

Profile

  • Master’s Degree in Humanitarian / Development Studies / Social Sciences or any related field
  • At least 5 years of working experience on Food Security, Livelihood, Social Protection, Conflict Management & Peace Building
  • Experience in programmes with multipurpose cash distribution components and/or strong administrative/financial competence and experience
  • Expertise in post-distribution monitoring (PDM): data analysis and report writing
  • Good knowledge of EU, AICS, UN Agencies management procedures (preferably at least 2 years experience)
  • Previous working experience in Sudan or Eastern Africa region is preferred
  • Excellent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic and Italian will be a plus
  • Good communication and writing skills as well as a good aptitude for stress management
  • Ability to create, coordinate and manage partnership relationships with donors and civil society organizations
  • Ability to work under pressure and operate in complex contexts

The International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) is a nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1983 with headquarters in Rome, Italy . The principles and purposes of the organization are summarized in the Declaration of Intent and the Code of Conduct for cooperation programs . The Statement of Purpose "For the Rights and against Poverty: Approaches and Operational Priorities CISP", developed with input from all players in the See of Rome and offices in third countries, defines the priorities of the CISP, built around the main objectives of combating poverty and social exclusion .

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND PRIORITY AREAS FOR ACTION

In collaboration with various local stakeholders, public and private, CISP has realized and realizes projects of humanitarian aid , rehabilitation and development in more than 30 countries of : Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe , while in countries of ' European Union promotes initiatives of cultural policy , the promotion of international solidarity and enhancing the role of diasporas in the development of their countries.

The Statement of Purpose identifies as priority areas :

a) the right to social security and economic as the development of income opportunities, migration, development and food security; b) the right to health , access to water and environmental sanitation ; c) the right to the future understood as the rights of children , adolescents , young people and enhancing the environment and natural resources ; d) the right to humanitarian assistance that emergency and first reconstruction; e) the support to public policies for social cohesion and civil society .

The CISP projects are designed not only to meet the priority needs and solve real problems in the country and in the action, but also as tools to identify, formulate and consolidate specific sectoral policies . Two interrelated purposes, because the possibility that an inspiring project or strengthens a policy address depends on its impact, the effectiveness and the credibility of those who carry it out. In this in 1997 , CISP has been the Co-operation and Development Network (CDN) of Pavia, in collaboration with the University of Pavia, the School of Pavia IUSS and two other NGOs.

The CISP processes and produces publications and audio-visual material and promotes opportunities for meetings and investigation to disclose and inform public opinion, the experience of cooperation more meaningful.

FUNDING AND RESOURCES

The CISP projects make use of funding and contributions from private individuals , associations, foundations, companies and Italian public institutions and international. Among the latter: the European Union , Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Italian local authorities, agencies, UN , governmental agencies of countries' Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD ), national governments and local authorities in the countries in which it operates.

CISP, already formal approval under the Act 26 February 1987, n. 49 and considered a non-profit social organization (NPO) in accordance with art. 10, paragraph 8, of Legislative Decree 4 December 1997, n. 460, is also enrolled in the registry office of NPO of the Lazio Region (NGO sector activities).

CISP is part of the ' Directory of Civil Society Organizations and other subjects not-for-profit Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Decree n. 2016/337/00161/4).

It is recognized Association (N ° 752/2010 of the Register of Legal Persons at the Prefecture of Rome), also registered in the Register of entities and associations operating in favor of immigrants at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (A / 138 / 2001 / RM).
