DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF FUNDING

JOB SUMMARY

The Livelihood Officer is responsible for leading the project by technical coordination, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of livelihood and recovery interventions including, but not limited to crop production, livestock production including poultry and goat keeping, Income Generating activities in the farm and off-farm sectors and cash assistance as a modality to provide aid. The position holder is responsible to deliver project deliverables on agriculture, household income and market assessments. The position holder shall also represent SP in the local clusters, and coordinate interventions with other actors to ensure appropriate responses to identified livelihood concerns or issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, implement and coordinate livelihood and agriculture components of the project with specific focus on crop production, livestock production, Income Generating activities in the farm and off-farm sectors and cash assistance programming
  • Facilitates planning through working with the community and key other stakeholders on key activities livelihood project.
  • Ensure all operational plans of the Livelihood project at field level are delivered as per the plan and set standard on project plan and budget
  • Take proactive role in project review, monitoring and evaluation; capture and share lesson points and best practices on a regular basis.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation including work plans, progress reports, monitoring data, of best practices, learning and success stories ensuring timely and accurate preparation and submission
  • Lead beneficiary targeting, selection, verification and approval processes with active engagement and collaboration of sector offices and community structures.
  • Community mobilization for livelihood interventions.
  • Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities with a generous and serving spirit for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse including the representation of Samaritan’s Purse in coordination meetings
About You

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • BA/BSc Degree in Agriculture, Livestock Production, Agricultural Economics, Horticulture, Economics or related fields;
  • 3 – 4 years related experience, preferably in NGO

LANGUAGE

  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Knowledge of the regional language required
  • Knowledge of any other national language is a plus
