Position Summary
The Logistics Officer and Driver supports MCC Mozambique program administration and technical activities in both the central office and the field. The role includes all purchases, office and vehicle maintenance and driving team members and visitors safely. The officer demonstrates professionalism, discretion, integrity and responsibility, maintains knowledge of protocol, ensures compliance with local driving rules and regulations and reports to the MCC Mozambique Office Administrator.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to MCC Mozambique’s values.
  • Five or more years of experience as a driver and in logistics for an International NGO.
  • Experience in procurement, planning and fleet management in NGO settings.
  • Previous experience in the INGO environment is essential.
  • Experience working in and knowledge of transit conditions in rural areas of Central and Southern Mozambique is desired.
  • Grade 12, or more than seven years’ experience in driving and logistics operations.
  • Possession of a Mozambican Professional Driver’s Licence is required.
  • Fluency in English, Portuguese, and some local languages from Central Mozambique (Sena, Ndau, Shona).
  • Mozambican National

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific areas of support include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, maintain, and use the procurement follow-up table.
  • Develop, maintain, and use the MCC Mozambique program suppliers’ database.
  • Ensure proper documentation for each purchase as per internal and external requirements.
  • Support any related audit requests.
  • Manage, review, and validate supplier invoices and follow up on payments with MCC Mozambique Finance Officer/Accountant.
  • Ensure vehicles are in good running condition by monitoring oil levels, tires, brakes, water levels, cleanliness and reporting any mechanical or technical issues to the designated garage or service provider.
  • Ensure availability of all required documents and supplies for vehicles, including insurance, inspection, registration, vehicle logs, office directory, maps, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Provide reliable and safe driving services for team members and visitors.
  • Travel frequently to remote project areas as required.
  • Take initiative and work independently to deadlines, knowing when to seek help.
  • Demonstrate ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds while upholding core principles of diversity.
  • Maintain organization, follow schedules, and adapt to changing routines.
  • Use attention to detail in all aspects of office, procurement, and vehicle management.

Supervision
