We train and support doctors and medical professionals to provide free life-changing comprehensive cleft treatment to our beneficiaries. We are looking for a strategic, dynamic, goals-oriented Manager for Education and Training to join the Africa team. This is a full-time opportunity, reporting to the Vice President and Regional Director, Africa. The Manager, Education and Training will support the Africa team to implement and grow education and training programs in Africa, in line with the organization’s strategic goals.

This is a full-time staff position based in Nairobi, Kenya, starting as soon as possible. If you are interested, please read more below.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and coordinates all Smile Train-led trainings with the support of the CRM, complies, organizes and prepares course assessment materials and assignment, keeping a coordination log
  • Seek out and manage Education and Training partnerships with training institutions in all cleft care disciplines
  • Manage Smile Train’s scholarship program in the region; receive applications, vet candidates and keep constant communication to monitor and report progress.
  • Plan, coordinate, and follow-through regional short-term hands-on training workshops for surgeons as well as fellowship programs and ensure availability of learning aids such as the surgical simulators and devices
  • Assist in conducting portions of an orientation for medical education program participants.
  • Design and implement impact evaluation for all Education and Training in the region
  • Plan and organize Smile Train Africa’s annual cleft congress
  • Coordinate exchange programs with Smile Train’s Cleft Leadership Centers and other global partners

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate has/is

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as medicine, nursing, medical education, business, law, global health etc. A masters degree will be an added advantage
  • 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in implementing medical education programs including background in database management is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with conference planning
  • Strong writing and reporting skills
  • Project and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience as a people manager
  • Existing working relationship with training institutions in the region is an added advantage
  • Outgoing and engaging personality
  • Resident of Kenya or holding a valid work permit in Kenya
