Job description
- Supervise and manage the M&E team, involving a data manager and data analyste, in order to ensure timely collection of data for project pilots
- Work with project managers in the design and implementation of M&E for new pilot projects, with enhancement of existing data collection systems when possible
- Participate in M&E meetings within MSF and with stakeholders
- Compile quarterly statistics and assist with the development of yearly project indicators
- Support the quarterly reporting of data from pilot project managers
- Further development and maintenance of M&E tools for new and ongoing projects
- Ensuring that each pilot project has a valid concept paper, research protocol, and ethics approval as needed
- Maintaining an up to date operational research agenda
- Ensuring communication on data updates and data collection challenges of current projects within the project team
- Providing support for pilot projects from conceptualization during the yearly planning process through to dissemination of findings
- Support operational research through writing of peer reviewed articles and study reports; the epidemiologist may lead the process of publication as first author, or provide support for other team members, depending on the person responsible for publication
- Conduct data cleaning and statistical analyses as needed for data analysis; this will include mostly quantitative analyses of observational cohort data, but qualitative input may also be required
- Ensuring ethics approvals are renewed per request from ethics review boards
- Organizing meetings with research partners as needed
- Support the capacity building of the M&E/operational research staff in the Khayelitsha project
