The Wellbeing Foundation Africa is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with a solid nursing and midwifery understanding to fill the post of Midwifery Officer. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing direct clinical reproductive and neonatal health services, which form the core of the Foundation’s flagship MamaCare360 program. The services include Provision of services in Infant and Young Child nutrition (IYC), Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC), etc.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  1. Provide direct clinical reproductive and neonatal health services, which form the core of the Foundation’s flagship MamaCare360 program. The services include Provision of services in Infant and Young Child nutrition (IYC), Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC), etc.
  2. Development and application of community-based health strategies focused on reproductive health services.
  3. Promote Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) best practices as per international and WBFA minimum standards to women and infants.
  4. Support community health workers to provide outreach services such as birth records, neonatal, and maternal mortality records.
  5. Promote adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health rights, ensuring access to quality health services based on the health toolkit developed by WBFA.
  6. Work with technical support and M&E teams to collect appropriate baseline data of programs.
  7. Ensure adequate infection prevention and control measures are always maintained in all facilities.
  8. Lead and advocate for quality healthcare in all facilities and communities.
  9. Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with heads of governments and health facilities and supervise train, and coach clinical staff.
  10. Prepare weekly and monthly reports of activities, including data collation.
  11. Supervise and facilitate data collection across all programs.
  12. Coordinate Mamacare360 WhatsApp platforms
  13. As well as other tasks that will arise in the line of duty.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

  1. Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), Bachelor of Nursing Science (B. NSc.)
  2. Minimum of 1 year of working experience in either Nursing or Midwife capacity

Competencies include:

  • Applying knowledge,
  • Building intrapersonal relationships
  • Ability to provide people-centered care
  • Providing nursing care
  • Practicing ethically
  • Collaborating with other professionals
  • The ability to improve the nursing/midwifery quality of the WBFA Expanding their professional capacity, and
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing/midwifery services
