Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is to provide reliable and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening Services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread all over Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.

Project Summary

MEDS has entered into a Contract with USAID Kenya and East Africa named USAID Dawa za Ubora. The purpose of the contract is to obtain efficient, reliable and accountable supply chain management services for the procurement, warehousing, and distribution of health commodities for HIV, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Maternal/Neonatal/Child Health (MNCH) and Global Health Security (GHS) activities for patients across all 47 Counties in Kenya for adequate care, treatment and prevention for communicable diseases and other health needs.

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will support the project to plan and implement process and impact evaluations, and M&E frameworks as well as support data analyses and interpretation of commodity distribution data. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with occasional in country travels as needed. The offer and contract are subject to donor funding and approval.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain an M&E database for all indicator-relevant data for the project
  2. Lead the creation and customization of data collection tools, managing data collection and digitalization processes, conducting analysis, preparing reports, and facilitating the dissemination and visibility of findings
  3. Oversee the M&E system, including routine checks and troubleshooting as necessary; coordinate with project staff to ensure proper M&E procedures are followed and all data is recorded timely and correctly
  4. Guarantee timely submission of all deliverables for decision making and reporting and support the monitoring of strategic key performance indicators
  5. Maintain programme M&E framework, results framework, and baseline information
  6. Provide mentoring and support to organizations in the implementation of results and sustainability frameworks
  7. Develop and maintain dashboards to provide visibility to the program processes
  8. Coordinate data quality audits and continuous quality improvement exercises
  9. Oversee the audit, validation, storage, and retrieval of proof of deliveries
  10. Manage the assigned team to ensure a healthy work environment
  11. Any other tasks assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in public health, development studies, computer science, business administration, statistics, economics, social sciences, monitoring and evaluation, project management or other relevant field
  2. Monitoring and Evaluation or Project management certification is an added advantage
  3. A minimum of seven years of experience in monitoring and evaluation management for international development programs; ECHO, USAID, FCDO or other donors three years as Monitoring & Evaluation Manager
  4. Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality
  5. Experience in the development of databases and data analysis, digital data entry systems, statistical analysis software and visualization software
  6. Significant knowledge in communicable disease control and particularly malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS, preferred
  7. Experience in quality management systems eg. Gemba, Kaizen, Six Sigma will be an added advantage
  8. Experience working in epidemiology within government, a public sector agency, a not-for-profit organization or research institution preferred
  9. Communication skill; ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Ability to communicate clearly in a multicultural environment

The organization has since grown to shape the medical supply chain in Kenya and the wider sub Saharan region by not only providing reliable, quality, affordable essential drugs and medical supplies to over 2300 clients but also to offering capacity building programmes for health workers, quality control and other pharmaceutical services.
