Organizational Setting
FAO’s work in post-disaster and emergency situations emphasizes the protection and rehabilitation of agricultural livelihoods. Following the loss of life, livelihoods and destruction caused by Cyclone Idai in March 2019, The World Bank has availed USD 75 million to finance the Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project. The ZIRP is a multi-sectoral project addressing both early and mid-term recovery needs in livelihoods, health, education, agriculture. FAO is implementing the agricultural component of the ZIRP which will run over a period of 24 months.
Reporting Lines
Working under the ov erall supervision of the FAO Representative in Zimbabwe, the National Project Coordinator will provide expert leadership to the project implementation team (PIT) for satisfactory delivery of the ZIRP project.
Technical Focus
The technical areas/profiles covered will be as follows:
- Target and milestone setting
- Human, material and financial management
- Report writing and dissemination
- Knowledge sharing and capacity building
Tasks and responsibilities
- Manage the project through work planning, budget management, monitoring and evaluation, follow-up with the implementing partner (UNOPS) and other partners to ensure all activities are timely and adequately held;
- Provide technical backstopping to the smooth implementation of the project and ensure consistency among the various components of the project and related activities, as foreseen by the project document;
- Lead the procurement of all goods and services for the project
- Ensure regular communication with all project stakeholders,
- Manage the human, material and financial resources allocated to the project for efficient and timely project implementation and delivery.
- Supervise the production of all required projects in line with donor requirements and guidelines
- Perform any other related duties as may be required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- An advanced degree Agriculture Economics, Agricultural sciences or related fields
- Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in management position in the agriculture and food security sectors of Zimbabwe
