Conservation and Sustainable Management of Biodiversity and Forests

The Project “Protection and sustainable use of natural resources in Ethiopia” aims to strengthen the capacities of institutions responsible for protected areas and forests for a climate-resilient management of selected landscapes in accordance with the interests of the local population. The upcoming new module of the project introduces innovative implementation approaches that promote a wider collaboration among local stakeholders, partners, communities, as well as the engagement of private actors in the restoration of degraded landscapes; the use of digital solutions for improving partners’ capacities and efficiency; and the expansion of the timber value chain.

The project implements activities at federal level, at the regional level in SNNPR and Amhara, as well as in remote areas in the field.

The office manager is responsible for the reception area of the project office. He/she keeps the office in a good operational performance, ensuring the secretariat runs smoothly as well as the availability of equipment and materials.

Contract duration:                           July 31, 2024

Responsibilities:

The office manager:

  • Performs operational duties of all administrative tasks for the office in a daily basis
  • Maintains a helpful attitude to customers, ensuring that the office creates a professional impression
  • Manages incoming and outgoing correspondence (post, fax, email) by sorting, classifying and distributing it
  • Supports logistics office in travel organization and event booking
  • Receives and hands over project materials and equipment.
  • Keeps records of all handed over materials (to staff and partners)
  • Assists in creating and maintaining a filing system for the office, and treats information confidentially
  • Manages and controls the project inventory, storage and register items on GIZ’s onsite software.
  • Assists the logistic officer in management of driver assignments
  • Supports the project team in any needed clerical services
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of the management

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • University degree in administration, business management or similar area
  • At least 1-3 year of professional experience in a comparable position
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • High level of self-organization and ability to work independently
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Amharic
  • Willingness to continuously update know-how and skills in a changing environment
