 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 Planning and reporting 

  • Implements PRC activity in agreement with the PRP responsible in Jigjiga and in accordance to PRP teams PoA;
  • Ensures that Jigjiga PRCs planned activities are well communicated with the PRC management and authorities;
  • Maintains and updates records on technical/clinical achievements at the PRC;
  • Support PRP responsible in Jigjiga to ensures periodical development reports (every quarter) are submitted to the PRP responsible in Jigjiga.

 Technical

  • Actively provides technical support by fulfilling clinical and technical obligations for the beneficiaries at the PRC.
  • Mentor and guides local P&Os, and assistant P&Os staff in device manufacturing process, at the exception of complicated/complex cases;
  • Improves the management of the clinical activities including
    • Ensures workshop machineries are well equipment, maintained, repaired or replaced.
    • Ensures respect of safety working procedures
    • Organize service deliver process like patent follow/appointment,
    • Responsible for workshop management workload distribution,
    • Promoting MDT,
    • To implement quality control mechanisms
    • Advise PRC manager on PR service delivery and awareness creation process
  • To participate in the BF&TA evaluations and analyse results and prepare a required recommendations.
  • Monitors PRC’s stock consumption;
  • Initiates and establishes Patient Management Service (PMS) with regard to compliance with guidelines, entered data and data analyses;
  • Promotes good relationship between the staff of the PRC management
  • Under request, facilitates the PRP/Health in Detention policy within Ethiopia;
  • Under request, supports PRP activities facilitating the social inclusion of PWD;
  • Under request, participate in ICRC outreach activities together with health department
  • Promotes good relationship between the staff of the PRC management
  • Reports on occurred problems immediately to the ICRC PRP team leader

Job Requirements

Education and professional qualifications

  • Prosthetist-Orthotist (Diploma in Orthopaedic Technology)
  • Minimum 2 years practice in P&O service delivery after graduation

 Competencies

  • Strong team spirit
  • Team spirit, ability to deal with people, patience, perseverance, adaptability, self-confidence
  • Flexibility (in particular related to travel to the field when needed) and adaptability, ability to work independently and to take initiative
  • Strong communication skills,
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds
  • Good spoken and written knowledge of English, Amharic and Somali.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland and a three-time Nobel Prize Laureate. State parties (signatories) to the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977 (Protocol I, Protocol II) and 2005 have given the ICRC a mandate to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts. Such victims include war wounded, prisoners, refugees, civilians, and other non-combatants.

The ICRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement along with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and 190 National Societies. It is the oldest and most honoured organization within the Movement and one of the most widely recognized organizations in the world, having won three Nobel Peace Prizes in 1917, 1944, and 1963.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law.
