Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD), an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization, was founded in 1999 by few volunteer youth who were concerned and hence aspired to contribute their part in the national effort to combat the spread of the HIV epidemic. Given its beginning, a major focus of MSD’s work has been in Health, Education, Livelihood, Migration, Child Trafficking and Environment.  MSD is looking for qualified and competent applicants for the above position

Department: Addis Ababa Project Office

Reports to: OVC specialist

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the OVC service specialist, the OVC service provider is responsible for facilitating linkages between OVC, care and treatment, HIV testing, community and key population services at Woreda, health facility and Community levels. Further she/he is responsible to provide technical supports to beneficiary, 3Cs, follow-up the implementation of projects and report performance.

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the identification of OVC target beneficiaries for different service;
  • Supports any capacity building activities for OVCs, parents, local community structures  and stakeholders in the target areas and her/his supervisor;
  • Manages and supports community volunteers and carries out community mobilization activities;
  • Arranges referral linkages for beneficiaries with school, health institutions and /or CHEWs for different service delivery support;
  • Supports, follows and mobilizes social workers at site level and supports community volunteers home visit;
  • Follows up support for mapping out of basic beneficiaries information, their needs, and supports the selection of HVC for different service;
  • Establishes a workable positive relationship with community volunteers and stakeholders including local government offices;
  • Involves in continuous  data collections, participates in documentation of best practices and lessons;
  • Carries out other related activities as may be assigned by the supervisor;
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports to the supervisor;
  • Performs any other related activities as assigned by the supervisor.
  •  Provide HIV testing service for contacts or families of index cases

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification

Education/ Training and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in health 2 year for degree and 4 year for diploma relevant experience
  • OVC experience in very advantageous

Technical and Other Skills

  • Good command of written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic;
  • Excellent in communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Willingness to work under pressure;
  • Computer literate (MS words, MS XL, MS PPTs).
