Background

Collectif des Associations Contre l’Impunité au Togo (CACIT) was founded in 2005 by committed members of civil society with the aim of improving the human rights situation in Togo. On an individual level, CACIT – in cooperation with partner organisations – accompanies victims of human rights violations with legal, economic and psychosocial means. In addition, CACIT’s work aims at improving the protection of human rights in general, strengthening good governance and fighting impunity for human rights violations.

You are located in Lomé, Togo

Job Scope

You will support CACIT in further professionalising its existing research centre in order to provide the public with even higher quality information on human rights violations and corruption cases.

In more detail, you would be responsible for the following:

  • Inventory of research skills at CACIT and its partners and identification of new actors for research work at national, regional and international level.
  • Participatory strategy development for the cooperation with these actors
  • Conception and implementation of trainings on strategies, methods and documentary techniques of research work for the CACIT network.
  • Documentation of research results and their dissemination in the CACIT network (online and print)
  • Supporting the development of a fundraising strategy to ensure the financial security of CACIT’s research and human rights work.

Profile

  • You have successfully completed your studies (e.g. political or social sciences, journalism or law) and have gained experience in human rights work, preferably in an African context.
  • You have in-depth experience in research work and knowledge dissemination
  • Your ability for realistic self-assessment and self-reflection enables you to act both empathetically and professionally in an environment with a difficult human rights situation
  • You are able to produce high-quality French texts for various formats and channels in a way that is appropriate for the media and target groups.

Citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or Switzerland is required.
