The Sarah Fox Children’s Convalescent Hospital is a nonprofit organisation which provides intermediate care to sick and vulnerable children after they have undergone medical procedures at tertiary hospitals or suffer from acute illnesses. Sarah Fox is establishing a new model Intermediary Care Facility.
Sarah Fox seeks to appoint a Professional Nurse, based in Cape Town.
Remuneration: R17 000.00 per month
13th cheque subject to availability of funding.
Required to work shifts and after hours (weekend, public holidays and night duty).
Responsibilities:
- Render an effective and continuous comprehensive paediatric nursing care to patients
- Ensure that services are rendered in a cost effective manner
- Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care
- Promote and perform a clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility
Requirements:
- Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse
- Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse
- Minimum four years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
- Sound knowledge and understanding of nursing and health service related acts, legislation and policies and ability to facilitate and promote training
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Communication skills (both written and verbal) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
- Ability to facilitate and promote training
- Analytical thinking, independent decision making and problem solving skills
- Experience in paediatric nursing would be an advantage
