Reporting to:
• Directly report to the Country Representative (1st Supervisor) and to the Regional Program Manager (2nd Supervisor)
• Functionally report to donor/thematic focal point/s for each specific sector and donor
Aim of the position
The Program Coordinator works in conjunction with other members of the programs team to administer the portfolio of grants for AVSI South Sudan. Primary tasks range from grants management to the review and analysis of funding requests while actively contributing to the overall growth and strategic development of the organization. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with personnel and finance matters. He/She must be friendly, courteous and have a professional approach towards donors, staff and stakeholder.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Program Implementation, Coordination & Evaluation
• Review and evaluate incoming proposals supplementary information/research as needed. Seek endorsements and communicate with advisors on grant proposals
• Write project proposals for different Donors in collaboration with Regional Program Director, Operation Manager, Project Manager and Country Representative
• Write reports and analyses of programmatic activities
• Support the preparation of the programs budget
• Oversee administrative duties within the programs team including database management and grants administration
Representation
• Strengthen AVSI’s networking with other donors and stakeholder
• Represent AVSI at public events
• Plan and conduct travel and other outreach activities to enhance and sustain existing and future networks with potential grantees
Communication
• Supervise the work of the Communication Officer
• Facilitate proper project visibility according AVSI and donors policies /procedures
• Increase communication and reputation of AVSI in South Sudan in relation with Communication Department at HQ level
Team Leadership
• Work in collaboration with other AVSI teams, including administration, logistic and HR department
• Contribute to the overall health and growth of the organization
Essential Requirements
Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Development Studies or other related fields of study from a recognized university.
-Master’s degree in relevant field would be an added advantage
Work experience: at least 5 years of experience in development/Humanitarian context
Language proficiency: Proficient knowledge of English (written and oral) C1.
Required skills and experiences
• Experience in South Sudan
• Proficient knowledge of the standard IT software
• Experience in community-based approaches in project implementation
• Strong organizational skills and able to coordinate and manage a diverse array of activities and stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills. Fluent English (both oral and written)
• Strong negotiation and mediation skills and ability to work independently
• Report writing and computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, power point presentation and Internet
• Willingness to travel and work in rural areas for most of the time
