The Program Coordinator will be part of the Program Management Coordination Team within MCC Uganda and works in collaboration with the Program Manager. The Program Coordinator carries the primary responsibility of closely accompanying our partners working in the refugee settlements as they need assistance during all the phases of the MCC Program cycle (including planning, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting). The Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing the relationship with MCC partners and learning about the stories, people, and circumstances of MCC Uganda partners. The position is based in Kampala and will require traveling approximately 30% of the time to project sites, out of the city, to visit partners. MCC Uganda team meets three times a year for team meetings and retreats and maintains other forms of support throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities This position will be supervised by the MCC Representatives for Uganda. As part of the program management coordination team within MCC Uganda, this position requires substantial coordination with other program management team members. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cultivate and maintain relationships with MCC partners through regular phone calls, video calls, messaging and/or in-person meetings (as possible)
  2. Visit partner organizations and their projects to build relationships, learn about the local context of MCC partners – names and stories, and monitor and understand their work
  3. Assist partners with the development of project proposals as well as project-related data collection and analysis
  4. Help partners in their reporting process, ensuring that project documents capture progress and that sufficient detail is provided on activities, adjustments, effectiveness and impact. Monitor deadlines to ensure that reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
  5. Review and make recommendations on submitted concept papers and proposals.
  6. Provide guidance to the external grant writing team by researching and collecting the needed information with evidence that can be used to pursue external grant proposals for MCC Uganda partners.
  7. Consult with teams and technically lead and guide new project design as it relates to food security, livelihoods and trauma healing in the settlement areas.
  8. Contribute to capacity strengthening initiatives in food security and livelihoods programming for staff and partner through helping develop learning and training strategies and agendas/curriculums, conducting trainings and workshops, and mentoring and coaching to partner staff.
  9. Keep abreast of the changing trends in food security and livelihood interventions especially in the settlement areas.
  10. Assist in compiling and monitoring all projects and document in the MCC database, PlanWin.
  11. Assess current capacity of local partners and offer planning, monitoring, evaluation & reporting (PMER) support.
  12. Represent MCC at relevant functions to promote the identity of the MCC Uganda program.
  13. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PMER principles and practices.
  14. Attend relevant PMER webinars and meetings as called for by the PLDR department.
  15. Attend a local church, MCC meetings and events as appropriate, including devotional and prayer time led by staff.
  16. Work with MCC Representatives and program staff to evaluate and strengthen partner projects.
  17. Other duties as assigned by MCC Representatives.
