About the role

In line with NI’s strategic objectives in Tanzania, and in partnership with key stakeholders, work under the guidance of the Senior Program Officer – Child Survival and Women’s Health and Nutrition, the Program Field Coordinator – Child Health and Nutrition will be responsible for the management and coordination of Vitamin A supplementation activities within program region. This will involve overseeing the implementation of national and regional health interventions aimed at reducing Vitamin A deficiency, improving child health, and ensuring program implementation fidelity, success and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that yearly and quarterly work plans and related budget for effective implementation of program supported activities are developed by implementing partners for effective delivery of agreed outputs and outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of regional/council’s plans for routine Vitamin A supplementation based on national guidelines
  • Advocate for the integration of routine Vitamin A supplementation related activities into routine health services and broader health and nutrition plans.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure smooth operation planned program activities
  • Ensure that work plan activities are implemented as scheduled and per the approved budgets
  • Ensure routine Vitamin A supplementation activities are integrated into primary healthcare services, including immunization sessions and maternal and child health programs
  • Review and analyze technical reports from implementing partners and ensure that remedial actions are taken to ensure that the program milestones are on track
  • Ensure regular coordination meetings with key stakeholders to ensure quality and cost-effective implementation.
  • Raise awareness of Vitamin A deficiency and the benefits of supplementation within communities including strengthening community awareness of the importance of routine Vitamin A supplementation.
  • Collect and analyze program data to assess performance, compliance, reach and impact of the program as per program’s key performance indicators
  • Prepare periodic reports on program status, challenges, and successes for internal stakeholders and donors

About You;

You have;

  • At least a master’s degree from a recognized university in one or more of the following areas: nutrition, nursing, health sciences and public health Training in health commodities management and research methodologies is an added advantage.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in nutrition/public health programs, preferably with a focus on Vitamin A or micronutrient supplementation.
  • Excellent report writing
  • Demonstrable project management skills
  • Proficiency in data management
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and oral presentation skills
  • Good spoken and written English
