Islamic Relief Worldwide is recruiting for the position of ‘Program Manager – Central Darfur’ for its Sudan office. The post holder, based in Central Darfur, is responsible for leading the Central Darfur program as Manager and provide technical support to other IR operations in Sudan. They will take the lead role in technical matters related to sectoral projects including designing of proposals, implementation, Monitoring of the Programme. The post holder will also lead on representation of IRW at the national and field level as well as providing technical support to IR program and administrative support to Programme and support functions staff in field office.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Project Management
  • Significant and progressive experience in the field of Project Management as well as implementation and management in any of Health and Nutrition /FSL/WASH/Protection/Education and Emergency programmes
  • Considerable senior management experience in developing countries and/or countries in transition/conflict
  • Field experience in several and diverse acute emergencies as well as protracted crisis settings
  • Health or equivalent professional with post graduate qualification in a relevant subject
  • Experience in programme/project implementation management
  • Experience in managing programme/project funded by institutional donors (DFID, EU, ECHO,SIDA and UN Agencies etc.)
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse context
  • Field experience in several and diverse acute emergencies as well as protracted crisis settings
  • Proven experience in developing proposals for major donors
  • Experience of contingency planning/emergency preparedness planning
  • Experience of capacity building and monitoring
  • Experience of team leadership and management
  • Highly developed writing skills (e.g., at level for producing an assessment report or proposal during a short time period)
  • Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for high level external representation (lobbying, presentations) and ability to tailor communications to different audiences
  • Fluency (written and oral) in English
  • Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals, Sphere Standards, Do no harm policy, Red-Cross/Red-crescent Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Programme etc.
  • Willing and able to travel to field locations for up to 50% of role
