Summary

The GeoAnlalytics Center, a Nigerien NGO based out of Niamey, is currently expanding is project portfolio! To this end, we are looking to reinforce our team with a Program Officer based out of Niamey for a period of 6 months (may be renewed).

The Program Officer (PO) assists the Managing Director with varied tasks related to program development and implementation of GeoA’s activities in Niamey, Niger. Furthermore, when needed, the PO fulfills administrative duties while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, personal communication, discretion, and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions:

Program related

  • Ensures the quality of GeoA’s activities by studying, evaluating, and re-designing on-going projects and processes;
  • seeks funding opportunities and develops relationships with funders and develops proposals;
  • overviews GeoA’s Niger TechHouse;
  • supports implementation efforts;
  • Provides mentoring to GeoA’s staff in Niger;
  • reviews program reports;
  • overviews GeoA’s financial reports;
  • works independently with only general guidance on a variety of special projects with considerable latitude for independent judgment and initiative;
  • update’s the Managing Director on a weekly basis; and
  • other tasks as assigned by the Managing Director.

Administration related

  • Performs a wide range of administrative as well as general support duties of a highly responsible and confidential nature;
  • establishes, manages and maintains an effective file and data system;
  • coordinates calendar and appointments and organizes business meetings in a variety of venues; and
  • researches, prepares, and edits presentations and special projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Masters in international relations, telecommunications engineering or political sciences;
  • professional working ability in both French and English;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • excellent visual attention to detail;
  • proven ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and be accountable for results in a fast-paced, fluid and challenging work environment;
  • have a high priority of attention to detail and organization;
  • demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and in coordination with others, and
  • an ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

About the GeoAnalytics Center

The GeoAnalytics Center (GeoA) is a Nigerien NGO based out of Niamey. Its goal is to reinforce international development programs related to security sector reform, countering violent extremism, gender issues and governance through the use of technology.

When adapted to local realities and needs, tech can be a critical facilitating tool for learning, empowering, communicating, collecting and organizing data, as well as enhancing productivity and effectiveness. We base our approach on three overarching ideas:

  • Technology is not a silver bullet. However, properly designed technological solutions may reinforce existing initiatives by streamlining processes and increasing efficiency.
  • Technology is only as good as the people behind it. GeoA ensures that its approaches are well integrated within existing organisations, and provides training and long-term mentoring to ensure sustainability.
  • GeoA’s solutions are locally adapted and are always based on the recipients’ capacity to understand and effectively apply technologically based solutions.

Our teams are composed of both development and IT experts. Together, we make it possible to implement the latest technological trends in the most remote areas.**
