Organizational Scope & Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the Senior Migrant Protection Assistant, the successful candidate will be assisting in coordinating registration, intake, and outreach procedures, for assistance to victims of trafficking, vulnerable migrants and those migrants who are vulnerable to exploitation. The program assistant is expected to carry out his/her duties in accordance with strictest moral and ethical standards and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural differences of the victims.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Carry out interviews with potential victims of trafficking and vulnerable migrants for
recording general information.
- Participate in individual protection case management including cases of SGBV and child
Protection.
- Provide insights and comments on existing and draft Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs) related to MPA unit.
- Act as a focal point for various activities including migrant legal services, education
initiatives, and school assessments.
- Participate in monthly meetings with UN agencies and external partners to discuss
agency updates and provide statistical reports.
- Support the direct assistance mobile team in arranging events, interviewing and distributing cash assistance to vulnerable migrants outside Cairo
- Support with tasks related to the assistance and counselling provided to each of the beneficiaries.
- Contribute to effective information management through the provision of disaggregated data on migrants and their problems.
- Relevant referrals to service providers and other units conducted in timely manner.
- Participate in initiatives related to migrants to improve services provided to migrants.
- Assist in the organization of trainings and participate in community outreach visits or other capacity building activities involving vulnerable migrants.
- Update and validate migrants’ and beneficiaries’ data in IOM databases including MIMOSA daily and assist in compiling and analyzing statistics and profiles on a regular basis.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all beneficiaries.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned; and undertake duty travels as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- University degree in Social or Political Science, Psychology, Social work or related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or
- High School degree with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in working with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with international organizations an advantage.
- Experience working with Excel and databases.
- Thorough and demonstrable knowledge of migration issues and how these may impact the vulnerability of a person.
- Knowledge of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
- Previous experience in International Organizations and development/humanitarian sector.
- Experience in working with migrants and/or refugees.
- Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis.
- Proven, very good working knowledge of ICT (related software, email, the internet) and computer applications.
- Knowledge of UN and/or bilateral donor programming.
- Proven communication skills.
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with the management.Skills
Languages
- Fluency in English and Arabic both Oral and written.
- Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
