King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) works with health facilities, academic institutions, and governments to strengthen health systems and improve the quality of care in Sierra Leone, Somaliland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Gambia. We bring together health, academic and international development expertise from King’s College London, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and our international partners to:

We are seeking an organised Programme Coordinator to support the implementation of project activities across our global health programmes. This role involves supporting the direct implementation of activities according to workplans, engaging with various stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration, and supporting volunteer field teams with partnership engagement and problem solving. The Programme Coordinator will also support volunteer recruitment and onboarding by leading on induction processes and supporting the delivery of reflective weeks and will also spearhead organisational communications, developing newsletters to boost visibility, amongst other tasks.

Job Title: KSLP Programme Coordinator
Location: Sierra Leone, Freetown with travel to districts to support project activities
Line management: Reports to the Programme Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Support the design and implementation of programme activities according to workplans, GANTT charts and project timelines
- Coordinate with volunteer field teams regularly and remotely, supporting with activity implementation, risk management and problem solving
- Liaise directly with community members, including local authorities, the DHMT and hospital management to ensure effective implementation of activities
- Contribute to narrative and financial reporting for donors, adhering to reporting deadlines and formatting and supporting the Programme Manager to analyse data
- Support the implementation of robust MEAL (monitoring & learning) frameworks, assisting the Programme Manager to track project outputs, outcomes and impacts
- Conduct field visits to ensure project activities are implemented effectively and provide on-the-ground support to address any challenges
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate collaboration and linkages among project team members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines
- Coordinate communication and information sharing among project stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in project activities
- Organize meetings, workshops, and other events to promote partnership engagement and collaboration in line with project activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, healthcare facilities, and community members.
- Support the dissemination of information and impact related to partnership activities through various communication channels.
Recruitment & Volunteer Fellowship Support
- Support the recruitment, coordination, and oversight of volunteers, ensuring adherence to safeguarding and occupational health standards
- Lead on volunteer inductions, designing induction timelines, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to arrange meetings and conducting field visits to onboard and introduce volunteers in their respective districts
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and information to contribute effectively to programme activities
- Assist with the execution of the volunteer fellowship, supporting with timetables for volunteer reflective week sessions and organising sessions accordingly
Communications & External Representation
- Represent KGHP in meetings, workshops, and other events related to project activities
- Regularly design and produce briefs, reports and summaries following participation at workshops and meetings
- Lead on the organisation of internal staff meetings, coordinating with staff members and reporting and disseminating meeting minutes
- Spearhead the design and execution of monthly external newsletters detailing key programmatic and organisational updates to partners and other stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health
- Lead on the communication of key updates during internal meetings, including huddles with the London office and internal communications updates
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in international development, public/global health or related subject
- At least 2 years’ experience working in project/programme/grant management for development or health projects
- Understanding of the health system, including knowledge of key stakeholders, policies and challenges
- Ability to juggle competing priorities, meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure in difficult environments
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting
- Excellent inter-personal, cultural and partnership skills
- Strong competencies using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Spoken and written fluency in English
- Commitment to KGHP’s vision and values
Desirable Criteria:
- Prior experience of working with institutional donors (FCDO, IrishAid, USAID etc)
- Comprehensive understanding of working with or in an NGO, preferably in Sierra Leone
- Fluency in Krio or other local languages
- Experience managing volunteers
