Our team in Zambia are looking for a Programme Officer to join their WASH NTD project. The WASH NTD Programme Officer will be responsible for all programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation related to SAFE aspects especially WASH and behaviour change interventions.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the organisation of the SAFE and WASH NTD Data Tool Development and Targeted Design Assessment for WASH activities relating to the programme and broader NTD work.
  • Work closely with the Technical Hub WASH Team, supporting the design and delivery of specific Behavioural Change and Communication activities in targeted districts, and national level where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with appropriate Ministries and WASH sector partners to implement and monitor appropriate actions to improve efficiency and quality of project implementation in WASH.
  • Promote the adaption and adoption of preferred practices on BCC and assess their application across the programme.
  • Ensure timely reporting on all WASH NTD activities in the Accelerate programme.
  • Support the Ministry of Health and partners interpret and use data/findings to guide decision-making

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • A qualification/tertiary degree in public health or other relevant field
  • Technical knowledge in WASH and BCC and/or one or more of the five leading PCT NTDs.
  • Proven experience working with budgets and financial provisions.
  • Proven experience with participatory methods and partnerships.
  • Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects/programmes
  • Excellent communication skills and advocacy
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Strong IT
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Availability to travel to relevant health regions for the duration of the tenure
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people
  • Current and ongoing right to work in Zambia.

The Programme Officer NTD role is a highly varied and involved role and the above is not an exhaustive list of duties or required professional skills.

The recruitment process will be in two stages. The first stage will be a written task, successful candidates at this stage will then be invited to an on-site interview. The interview will last up to one hour.
