THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan international Ghana is looking to employ the services of a highly skilled, experienced and qualified professional to join its ranks in the role Project Accountant.

The position will support the implementation of the Women’s Voice & Leadership (WVL) Project aimed of supporting local women’s rights organizations with grants and capacity development to strengthen their organizational development, programming and advocacy as well as sustainability. It will further support collaboration and collective action to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

ABOUT YOU

The Project Accountant will be responsible and ultimately accountable for managing project finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensure accurate and timely financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and reconciliations and provide effective monitor and control project expenditures, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency.

Additionally, the Project Accountant will ensure compliance with project donor requirements, laws, and regulations, identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, developing strategies to minimize potential impacts and conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Qualifications & Experience

  • First Degree in Accounting plus ICA Ghana part 2 or ACCA Foundation (Level 2) or its equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge in SAP Accounting software would be an added advantage
  • Show strong understanding and knowledge of Cash Flows, Budgetary Controls and Compliance with Finance Controls.
  • Fair knowledge in Project Management

Key skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience in managing multimillion-dollar institutional grants through donors such as BMZ, USAID, DFID and European Union.

  • Knowledge in relevant accounting software and proficient in Microsoft applications especially Excel and Pivot tables, PowerPoint

  • Good Supervisory and Coordination Skills

Plan International is an international organisation or development which works in 51 countries across Africa, the Americas, and Asia to promote the safeguarding of children.It is a nonprofit organisation and is one of the world's largest organisations based on children, it works in 58,000 communities with the help of volunteers to improve how 56 million children live. The charity also has 21 national organisations who have been given the responsibility to oversee the raising of funds and awareness in their individual countries.

When they witnessed the conflict change the lives of children, they founded ‘Foster Parents Plan for Children in Spain’, which would later change its name to Plan International. Set up in 1937, the organisation provided food, shelter and clothing to children whose lives had been destroyed by the war.
