African Partners for Child Poverty – APPCO is a National, not for
profit humanitarian organization

of the Rights of Children and Women, improving access to education, Livelihoods
and resilient Households, Governance and Accountability, and emergency relief projects in 06 Districts in Uganda. Our programming
principle is to address the plight of Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable
children, youth and women in the communities where we operate.

Our work since 2010 has been to improve the lives of
marginalized communities within Ugandan by creating
economically dynamic, healthy and educated secure
communities. Our works focus on building resilience and enable economic growth,
improve opportunities to attain better health and education, nutrition, and improved governance and accountability.

In 2016, APPCO ventured in working with the South Sudanese refugee settlements of West Nile,
Northern Uganda where over 1 million South Sudanese have settled over the past
few years. We focus on improving the education
status of refugee children and host communities, livelihoods improvement and
prevention and response to GBV and child protection.

 

APPCO
is currently recruiting to fill Vacant positions available in our field office
of Lamwo and Yumbe.

 

Position: Project
Coordinator – Education Project

Report to: Program
Development
Manager

Location: Lamwo /Yumbe District

Purpose of the position:

Oversee and ensure that all activities related to the
education project
are implemented in a timely and efficiently manner according to the agreed
Donor Guidelines, especially ECW Education in emergency standards and budget, and provide leadership
and coordination for all aspects related to project activities in Lamwo
and Yumbe
Districts.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

Project management and coordination

·
Provide
overall leadership, management and guidance to the development of project
designs including harmonization of the project implementation
plan.

·
Guide
and provide technical support to Program Officers in Lamwo and Yumbe with
clear coaching plan schedules.

·
Manage
and coordinate project activity implementation in Lamwo and Yumbe
and work closely with district education departments especially DEOs,
Inspectors of schools and CCTs and Head Teachers.

·
Strengthen
capacity of project implementing partners/community support structures clearly
mastering APPCO capacity enhancement models

·
Creating avenues for possible implementation of the
bridging course for out of school children and youth

·
Independently
establish, maintain and grow productive working relationships with the Office
of the Prime Minister, UNHCR, District Local Government officials and line
departments, and private sector, soliciting their participation in all
activities where appropriate, in close coordination with other programs in the
same operating areas.

Project monitoring and evaluation

·
Facilitate
effective monitoring, documentation and reporting in compliance with agreed
standards

·
Ensure
a functional project M&E system with M&E Officer

Finance management

·
Manage
project finances and assets in line with APPCO Finance
Regulations
policy

·
Budget
management and control

·
Manage timely finance reporting by working closely
with Finance and Admin officer

Performance management and supervision

·
Manage,
supervise and build capacity of staff in project development, management and
implementation.

·
Monitor
and document performance of partners

Project development

·
Guide
staff in design and development of Annual Operation Plans and budgets

·
Review
project documents and align to all donor program implementation
guidelines

·
Networking
and collaboration with UNCHR and OPM office as required of all
implementing partners and take part in all sector meetings

·
Identify
and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with
partners and other stakeholders in planning and implementation.

·
Develop
plat forms for sharing information with partners and stakeholders

·
Guide
and participate in joint campaigns, advocacy initiatives around youth and women
empowerment with partners and stakeholders

·
Ensure
project advocacy initiatives are implemented in line with APPCO’s Advocacy agenda

Documentation and reporting

·
Timely
submission of end of monthly, Quarterly, bi – annual and annual reports

·
Documentation
and sharing of best/promising practices to strengthen APPCO`s institutional memory and
learning

Accountability to Beneficiaries: APPCO team members are expected to
support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries
and to international standards guiding international relief and development
work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the
design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

Representation: Conduct himself/herself both professionally and
personally in such a manner as to bring positive recognition to APPCO and to not endanger APPCOs’ humanitarian
mission.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and
Experience

·
Degree
in Education,
Development Studies and/or SWASA or related field.

·
3
years or more experience of working with education in emergency
projects, youth
and women empowerment projects/programs

·
Practical
experience in implementation of safer school model and collective school forums and
interactive discussion
initiatives

·
Experience
Formation and Strengthening of school working groups, parents associations and
teacher mentoring

·
Resource
mobilization skills with evidence a PLUS

·
Knowledge
of M&E, documentation and reporting

·
Proven
experience in project management, developing partnerships and Private sector
engagement

·
Experience
with youth-women centered advocacy and engagement

·
Self-motivated
with excellent time management skills.

·
Track
record demonstrating high integrity, reliability and dependable

·
Ability
to work with minimal supervision.
