The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Manager – CAF IMPACT Programme

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Responsibilities
Capacity Building and Project Management within the Member Association Division:

  • Develop, monitor and coordinate the implementation of CAF’s Capacity Building activities across Member Associations (MAs) and Zonal Unions (ZUs), ensuring alignment with established frameworks and support tools provided by the MA Division.
  • Act as the main contact point for capacity-building initiatives within the division, facilitating consistent delivery, communication, and feedback across internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Zonal Unions to consolidate knowledge and data for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Support planning and execution of CAF workshops, training missions, and technical assistance visits.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning:

  • Monitor and assess the impact of capacity-building support; collect feedback and recommend improvements.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of MAs on implementation progress, risks, and resource requirements.

Cross-Unit and Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Support other CAF departments, including Schools Football, Safeguarding, and CSR, in developing and executing capacity-building components of their programmes.
  • Work closely with the African Schools Programme Team and CAF Executive Directors to align training and development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Communications and PR team to promote capacity-building stories and achievements across platforms.

External Engagement and Partnerships:

  • Foster connections with academic institutions, NGOs, confederations, and external experts to support joint training or institutional development.

Operational and Financial Oversight:

  • Provide input into the annual planning and budgeting process for capacity-building activities; track expenditures and ensure efficient resource use.
  • Ensure effective documentation, knowledge sharing, and reporting to support transparency and organizational learning.

Requirements (Profile)

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Project Management, Organizational Development, Capacity Building, Sports Administration, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in development, project management, or capacity-building project management, preferably within sport, international development, or public sector reform.
  • Experience designing and delivering training programmes or institutional assessments in Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-cultural stakeholders and partnerships.
  • Expertise in institutional capacity assessment and programme design
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Good project planning, budgeting, and reporting ability.
  • Fluency in English is a must; fluency in French, Arabic and/or Portuguese is a strong asset.
  • Ability to travel across the African continent.
