Job Description

SNV is looking for a Project Manager for +SOL, a new initiative that aims to accelerate access to quality and affordable off-grid electrification products and services through the private sector to improve the lives of low-income people in Mozambique, with initial focus on Zambezia, Tete and Niassa provinces.

+SOL is a 4-year project funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and to be implemented in collaboration with the Government of Mozambique (GoM). The project builds upon similar initiatives implemented by SNV in collaboration with the public and private sector.

As the Project Manager your role is crucial to lead, manage and implement the intervention approach that comprises 4 different components including: Pipeline Development, Clean Energy Fund, Climate Asset Aggregator and Technical Assistance & Sector Strengthening. This multifaceted position involves strategic planning, project execution, adaptable stakeholder engagement, and resource management.

You will be the driving force behind project success, ensuring on-time deliverables and effective collaboration with diverse partners and stakeholders. This opportunity not only positions you to lead a project with a significant impact on energy access and renewable energy technologies in Mozambique, but also allows you to leverage SNV’s well-established presence through the synergies with other programs and projects. This presents an exciting platform for you to contribute to the green revolution, climate agenda, and catalyse business innovation. Moreover, it will allow you to expand your network in the development sector.

As the Project Manager, you will report directly to the Energy Sector Leader, and maintain close collaboration with global leads in Access to Energy, alongside our local technical team.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in areas such as access to energy through SHS and Mini grids, rural electrification, grant financing or similar.
  • Relevant bachelor and/or master’s degrees (preferred) in energy, engineering, economics or related fields.
  • Understanding of the off-grid energy institutional, market, legal and policy frameworks (preferably in Mozambique).
  • Experience with managing and coordinating with private and public stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and quickly establish credibility.
  • Demonstrated experience in project design, execution, operations, team leadership, and performance measurement.
  • Excellent spoken and written Portuguese and English.
