Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD), formerly known as Ethiopia Human Rights Project (EHRP) is a board-led, for not-profit organization registered in Ethiopia under the revised Civil Societies Law 1113/2019 with registry number 4307. CARD envisions to see a democratic Ethiopia and has a mission of echoing principles of democracy to make it the rule of game in the country. CARD is a newly establishing institution and is seeking to have energetic, young project officer who is interested in democratization, human rights and political participation.
Main Duties:
- Coordinate projects that focuses on hate speech, freedom of expression and youth peaceful conversation.
- Monitor traditional mainstream media and online media on hate speech, dangerous speech and compile reports.
- Prepare different reports on the use of digital sphere for hateful conversation and inciting of violence and conduct advocacy for its improvement.
- Support in the preparation of reports, background papers, studies and concept notes in the areas of human rights, democratic institution building, elections and youth peaceful conversation and political engagement, when needed.
- Implement project activities, prepare plan and reports
- Prepare project plans and budget reports of various activities of CARD when needed.
- Work in coordination with different project stakeholders in different CARD projects
- Engage in documentation and building of program department of CARD
- Follow up on the implementation of specific and detailed plans and quick-win activities as planned by CARD projects
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Genuine commitment for human rights, democracy fairness and inclusion
- Solid grasp of democracy, human rights, fairness and inclusion principles;
- Readiness to work in newly establishing institution and willingness to grow with the institution and the cause it advocates
- Excellent ability to write and speak Amharic and English. Knowledge on any other local languages is a great asset;
- Experience with the implementation of project implementation and monitoring,- capacity to act independently and creatively
- Strong information technology and computer skills;
- Willingness to adhere to the CARD code of conduct;
- A University degree (Bachelor degree) in social science- we will be happy to consider applicants with non-social science degrees if they are demonstrate their interest to work on democracy and human rights
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience related with project implementation
- Experience of working in civil society organizations is a must
- Ready to work in newly establishing organization and willing to help build advanced human rights cause
