JOB PURPOSE

This role involves engaging with vulnerable populations, facilitating protection and gender-sensitive activities, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards and policies. The assistant will work closely with partners, stakeholders, and community members to promote safety, dignity, and gender equality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the implementation of protection and gender programming activities at the field level.
  • Conduct community outreach and awareness campaigns on protection and gender issues.
  • Identify and report protection concerns, vulnerabilities, and gender-specific needs among affected populations.
  • Support the registration, referral, and follow-up processes for protection cases.
  • Facilitate safe spaces and support services for women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data related to protection and gender activities, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations to promote protection and gender equality.
  • Support capacity-building activities for community members and local partners.
  • Ensure activities adhere to organizational policies, protection standards, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and case studies as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in protection, gender, or community development programs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of protection principles, gender equality, and human rights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cultural sensitivity skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.
  • Fluency in Kanuri and Hausa is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS ce Suite and data management.
