Danish Red Cross (DRC) to make a difference for the most vulnerable living in complex, fragile and protracted crises contexts, and facing disasters and conflicts. The DRC has been present in Africa for more than three decades. Currently DRC is engaged in 10 countries in Africa with an annual turnover of approximately EUR 40 million, 60 expatriate and resident staff in 8 country offices (Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Niger, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan). In these countries, DRC supports the National Red Cross Red Crescent Societies within resilience building, emergency response, preparedness and anticipatory action, health notably non-communicable diseases and psychosocial support, youth and volunteer management, migration, and branch and organizational development.

The purpose of the Regional HR Partner (RHRP) is to support DRC Regional Management, Head of Region and Country Managers, in all aspects of Human Resource Management including in particular recruitment and duty of care. As RHRP, you will become a part of a dynamic regional team based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as well as the broader Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • End to end recruitment process
  • Provide advice and tools around talent attraction
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding and induction for all new employees within the region
  • Representing DRC and developing partnerships with Regional Country Offices and other in-country partners and stakeholders
  • Proactively seek solutions to the Country Managers Human Resource challenges in liaison with the Danish Red Cross HR department when relevant
  • Contribute to implementing DRC global HR policies, tools, procedures and initiatives
  • Ensure lesson learned as the foundation for developing DRC HR Management in Africa

We expect following experience and qualifications from you:

  • Relevant academic background, e.g., Master Degree in Human Resource Management or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within HR incl. with international recruitments
  • Relevant international work experience from humanitarian or development contexts
  • Knowledge of working conditions in fragile contexts in Africa
  • Relevant experience leading and driving recruitment processes from A to Z
  • Work experience from the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
  • Flexible and confident self-management during peak workloads and in situations of stress
  • Ability to work in demanding and rapidly changing situations is important
  • Excellent communication, coordination, networking and facilitation skills
  • Results oriented and patient with strong cultural sensitivity
  • Full proficiency in English and French speaking and writing is a requirement
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license

Employment Conditions

Preferred starting date is 1 June 2024 on a two-year contract with possibility of extension. The duty station is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which is a family duty station with some regional travel requirements also to high insecure contexts as well as visits to the DRC HQ in Copenhagen as relevant.

Salary and employment conditions will depend on the contract modality offered to the person selected.

The contract will be administered in accordance with the Danish Red Cross
