Context:
Established in early 2019 at the Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, the
Regional Data Hub (RDH) aims to support evidence- based strategic and policy level discussion
on migration through a combined set of initiatives. These include: strengthening regional primary
and secondary data collection and analysis; increasing Information management capacity
across countries; providing technical support to ensure harmonization and interoperability of key
methodologies used to monitor population mobility; and the engagement of key stakeholders
and governmental counterparts in migration dialogue and consultation.
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Regional Director – Operations, and under the direct
supervision of the Regional Data Hub (RDH) Coordinator, in close coordination with Regional
Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Officer and Regional Research Officer, the Regional
Reporting Officer will be responsible for report production undertaken by the Regional Data Hub
(RDH) at IOM’s Regional Office (RO) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Additionally,

they will be tasked to assist with project implementation through conducting relevant research
and review of qualitative data and information and recommending the commissioning of
additional research projects to fill existing information gaps.
The Regional Reporting Officer should remain up to date on the most recent human mobility
trends, changes and any other significant observations surrounding human mobility within the
region. The main responsibilities of the selected candidate are:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Assist qualitative data analysis and research, and draft regular regional reports and
information products produced on a quarterly, biannual and semi-annual basis in close
coordination with RDH team members, highlighting regional trends in migration and
displacement. Support with the creation of data visualizations and report formatting.
2. Support thematic research on topics of interest to the MENA region related to migration and
internal displacement, such as, but not limited to, the impact of climate mobility, urbanization
resulting from rural development, and migration and health nexus. Collaborate closely with
relevant thematic specialists, conduct desk reviews of existing literature, contribute to the
development of research frameworks, and carry out assessments aimed at understanding these
phenomena.
3. Contribute to the production – analysis, writing, editing- of research outputs, including but not
limited to in-depth reports, flash reports, infographics and factsheets.
4. Consistently review and recommend the endorsement of regional and country level reports
from DTM and data colleagues in the region ensuring adherence to IOM reporting guidelines
and regularly update such guidance for use by other RDH colleagues.
5. Contribute to the RDH communication strategy by coordinating its social media accounts,
email campaigns, and website to ensure a coherent overall visual identity of its key activities
and institutional products.
6. Provide support to RDH administrative functions including but not limited to organization and
preparation of external events and workshops, administration of requisite procurement
processes and liaison with relevant colleagues on human resource related matters.
7. Drafting and editing reports, dashboards and infographics presenting analysis of data
collected by DTM, Missing Migrants Project (MMP) ensuring the products are accessible to
non-technical audiences.
8. Liaise with country offices in MENA region to provide the needed support and guidance on
reporting-related matters, including but not limited to data collection, analysis, and reports
submission.
9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Social Science, Law,
or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional
experience; or,
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience
• Experience in research, with knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods;
• Experience producing visibility materials, publications, reports and other documents;
• Experience in using of Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office applications is required; and,
• Experience working with statistical software, such as Statistical Package for the Social
Science.
Skills
• Excellent writing and editing skills;
• Good knowledge of migration-issues;
• Experience in migration, international development and research and analysis, with developing
country experience highly desirable;
• Working experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) tools including ArcGIS
Desktop, Server and Online is considered an asset;
• Incorporates gender related needs, perspectives, concerns and promotes equal gender
participation;
• Good knowledge of the MENA region; and,
• Statistical Package for the Social Sciences SPSS or Statistics and Data (STATA) software,
and databases is a distinct advantage.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be
fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic
and/or another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process,
which may include written and/or oral assessments.
