1. Background

The Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) program seeks to generate high-quality data to understand causes of death among children under five years. An essential component of this work is clinical abstraction and development of standardized clinical case summaries and related clinical tasks; and facility-level dissemination of findings.

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine invites eligible and qualified service providers to submit quotations for the provision of Clinical Abstraction and Case Summary Development Services (including quality assurance and control processes), and related clinical tasks.

2. Objective of the Assignment

The objective is to establish a pool of qualified clinicians who can be engaged on a when-actually-engaged basis to abstract clinical data, develop clinical case summaries, support quality assurance processes, and undertake related clinical tasks and dissemination as required.

3. Scope of Work

The service provider will undertake the following tasks:

  • Abstract clinical data using standardized tools
  • Develop accurate clinical case summaries
  • Ensure data completeness and consistency
  • Revise outputs based on feedback
  • Support quality assurance processes
  • Participate in dissemination activities
  • Undertake related clinical tasks as required

4. Deliverables

Deliverables include completed abstraction tools;

  • Completed clinical abstraction tools for assigned cases.
  • High-quality clinical case summaries (case packets).
  • Revised summaries incorporating review feedback.
  • Completed quality control and processes
  • Facility-level dissemination of findings
  • Completed related clinical tasks (as assigned from time-to-time)
  • Periodic progress reports.

5. Duration of Assignment

Engagement will be on a non-exclusive, as-needed basis with no guarantee of minimum workload. Payment will be based strictly on approved outputs and deliverables completed.

6. Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine or equivalent.
  • Valid up to date professional registration/licensure.
  • Experience in clinical records review and summary writing, and quality control processes.
  • Research or surveillance experience is an added advantage.

7. Pricing and Cost Structure

Clinical abstraction – Unit: Per case – Rate (KES)

Case summary development – Unit: Per case – Rate (KES)

QA/QC support; CHAMPS results dissemination activities; and other assigned related clinical tasks – Unit: Per hour – Rate (KES)

The pricing and cost structures as per above section.

8. Proposal Submission Requirements

  • At least two professional references.
  • Valid professional practice license

9. Evaluation Criteria

  • Technical suitability and experience.
