JOB PURPOSE

Provide roving technical support for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems across multiple project locations. The Roving IT Officer ensures the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of ICT infrastructure and equipment while supporting users to ensure the efficient and secure use of ICT services in accordance with INTERSOS standards, policies, and procedures. The role includes field travel between operational locations to support ICT systems and users.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide roving ICT technical support across operational locations (Bama, Dikwa, Gamboru/Ngala, Magumeri, Monguno).
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot ICT systems, equipment, and infrastructure including: Routers, Switches, Wireless access points, Laptops and desktops, Printers and peripherals.
  • Network cabling and connectivity equipment.
  • Provide helpdesk and user support, responding to ICT requests and incidents and ensuring timely resolution or escalation when required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and monitoring of all ICT equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support implementation of cybersecurity and information security practices, including: Data protection, Backup procedures, Access control, Endpoint protection and Secure network usage.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of software and operating systems, including Microsoft Windows and Office365 environments.
  • Support network configuration and troubleshooting, including LAN/WAN connectivity and wireless networks.
  • Ensure ICT equipment inventory and asset documentation are maintained according to INTERSOS asset management procedures.
  • Provide user guidance and training on ICT systems, tools, and good security practices.
  • Escalate unresolved technical issues to the appropriate ICT support level in line with established escalation procedures.
  • Support ICT equipment procurement processes by providing technical specifications when required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of ICT systems, configurations, incidents, and support activities.
  • Travel regularly to field bases to perform ICT support activities.
  • Perform other ICT-related technical duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education & Professional experience

  • Essential: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related ICT field.
  • Added Advantage: Relevant professional certifications or formal technical training in ICT domains such as Networking, System Administration, Cybersecurity, or IT Support.

Professional experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven professional experience in Information Technology (IT) providing ICT services and support in organizational or operational environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or field-based ICT operations is an advantage.
  • Experience in humanitarian or NGO environments is desirable.
