We are hiring a Roving Response Operations Manager to join our team in Juba, South Sudan to meet the needs of beneficiaries throughout South Sudan. This is a new position as part of a large new grant. Want to use your humanitarian expertise to serve in Jesus name? This is a great opportunity.

A day in the life of an Operations Manager, Roving Response:

In the role of Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day disaster response operations, including rapid assessments, emergency team deployment, contingency planning, and implementation of emergency interventions in line with approved plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Ensure quality and accountable implementation of humanitarian activities in accordance with Sphere Standards, CHS commitments, organizational policies, and protection, gender, safeguarding, and accountability principles.
  • Monitor and support field operations through regular site visits, operational planning, beneficiary targeting and verification, distribution oversight, and provision of technical and operational guidance to field teams.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics, procurement, fleet, warehouse, administration, and support departments to ensure timely procurement, delivery, and management of emergency supplies, assets, and operational resources.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support emergency response staff and field teams through coaching, performance management, onboarding, staff care, and ensuring compliance with organizational values, security procedures, and safeguarding standards.
  • Represent the organization in coordination forums and maintain effective collaboration with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, clusters, churches, community leaders, and other humanitarian stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Assistance, International Development, Public Health, Logistics, Project Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Masters degree is an added advantage.
  • The candidate should possess a minimum of five (5) years experience in humanitarian emergency response or disaster operations, including demonstrated experience managing field operations in fragile, conflict-affected, or disaster-prone environments.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Travel Expectations: Frequent travel throughout the country; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary

Our Team

Based in London and Madagascar, our team works with local partners to provide support at every stage of the project process, from initial development through to funding, implementation and evaluation. Our integrated approach ensures that all of SEED Madagascar’s projects have the full support of a wide range of people dedicated to ensuring their success, with operational models ranging from community co-management to full independence.

In London, we employ 3 staff members who are responsible for strategic planning, donor liaison, financial management, awareness raising, fundraising, and promoting SEED Madagascar’s international volunteering opportunities.

In Madagascar, we employ 4 international staff members who are responsible for building the capacity of SEED’s partner organisations, coordinating project development and managing SEED's team of international volunteers and specialists. We also employ 4 Malagasy staff and typically work with around 60 local professionals, supported by a team of 15 international specialists who add value in areas including donor relations and compliance.
