Reports To: Implementing Partner Project Manager, with technical oversight from CCRDA

Duration: 10 Months, renewable based on performance and project availability

Salary: As per the organization’s salary scale

Job Purpose

CCRDA is implementing Senior High Risk Adolescent Girls and Young Women (HR-AGYW) mentorship interventions across 22 universities, with a designated mentor assigned to each university. The Senior HR-AGYW Mentors will provide technical support and oversight to the university-based mentors within their assigned cluster, strengthen the quality and consistency of mentorship services, support performance monitoring and learning, and ensure effective implementation of approved HR-AGYW HIV prevention interventions.

The Senior HR-AGYW Mentor will provide technical leadership, mentorship, coaching and supportive supervision for the implementation of HIV prevention interventions targeting HR-AGYW in higher learning institutions and other program settings.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Leadership and Mentorship
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to HR-AGYW mentors assigned to universities within the designated program cluster.
  • Support implementation of HR-AGYW HIV prevention interventions across the assigned universities.
  • Provide regular coaching, mentoring and supportive supervision to university-based mentors.
  • Support mentors to effectively apply approved mentorship models, curricula, session guides and program tools.
  • Promote consistent, high-quality and beneficiary-centered delivery of HR-AGYW interventions.
  • Identify technical and implementation challenges and provide practical solutions.
  • Support mentors to document good practices, innovations and lessons learned.
  1. Supportive Supervision and Quality Improvement
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision visits to assigned universities.
  • Review the quality of mentorship sessions, activities and documentation.
  • Assess implementation against approved program standards, plans and targets.
  • Identify gaps in program quality, mentor performance and service delivery and support development of corrective actions.
  • Follow up implementation of agreed improvement actions.
  • Provide technical feedback and coaching based on supervision findings.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement of the HR-AGYW mentorship program.
  1. Program Monitoring and Performance Management
  • Monitor implementation progress and achievement of HR-AGYW program targets and indicators across assigned universities.
  • Review mentor activity reports, session records, referral documentation and other program reports.
  • Support mentors to maintain accurate, complete and timely program documentation.
  • Identify performance gaps and emerging implementation issues and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Support data quality improvement and timely reporting.
  • Contribute to routine program performance reviews and analysis.
  • Support documentation and dissemination of program results, lessons learned and good practices.
  1. Coordination and Referral/Linkage
  • Coordinate with higher learning institutions, implementing partners, university-based mentors and relevant health facilities.
  • Strengthen collaboration between mentors, university structures and HIV prevention and health service providers.
  • Support effective referral and linkage of HR-AGYW to appropriate HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care, psychosocial and other relevant services.
  • Participate in  review meetings, coordination meetings, supportive supervision activities and learning events.
  • Facilitate timely communication and resolution of implementation issues between university mentors, implementing partners and CCRDA.
  1. Capacity Building
  • Identify capacity-building needs of university-based HR-AGYW mentors.
  • Organize and facilitate training, coaching, mentoring and experience-sharing sessions for mentors.
  • Support mentors to strengthen facilitation, communication, coaching and beneficiary engagement skills.
  • Develop or adapt practical learning and mentoring materials in line with approved tools.
  • Promote peer learning and exchange of good practices among university-based mentors.
  1. Community and Beneficiary-Centered Programming
  • Promote meaningful participation, dignity, confidentiality and respectful engagement of HR-AGYW throughout program implementation.
  • Support mentors to identify barriers affecting access to HIV prevention information and services.
  • Encourage appropriate use of beneficiary feedback to improve mentorship and program quality.
  • Promote safeguarding, confidentiality and appropriate referral mechanisms within HR-AGYW activities.
  • Ensure mentors understand and comply with relevant safeguarding, PSEA and program accountability requirements.
  1. Partner Resource Mobilization and Sustainability
  • Support implementing partners to identify opportunities for resource mobilization to sustain and strengthen HR-AGYW mentorship interventions.
  • Provide technical input to partners in developing concept notes, proposals and funding applications related to adolescent girls and young women HIV prevention programming.
  • Support partners to document programme achievements, evidence and lessons learned for use in resource mobilization and donor engagement.
  • Identify potential partnerships and opportunities for collaboration with relevant institutions, development partners and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to development of sustainability and resource mobilization strategies for HR-AGYW mentorship activities.
  • Support partners to strengthen their capacity to communicate programme results and demonstrate value to potential funders and partners.
  1. Reporting, Learning and Documentation
  • Prepare regular technical and supervision reports for the implementing partner and CCRDA.
  • Consolidate key findings, challenges, achievements and recommendations from assigned universities.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, promising practices and program innovations.
  • Contribute to program review reports, learning activities and performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure timely communication of critical implementation issues requiring management or technical attention.
About You

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and  Public Health with HIV Multisectoral response exposure
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in HIV prevention, adolescent and youth programming, mentorship, community health or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adolescent girls and young women, youth or key/high-risk population HIV prevention program is highly desirable.
  • Experience providing technical mentorship, coaching, supportive supervision or capacity building to program staff or peer mentors.
  • Experience working with higher learning institutions, youth program or community-based HIV prevention interventions is an advantage.
  • Experience in program monitoring, reporting and data quality improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, facilitation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with universities, implementing partners, health facilities and program teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple institutions and competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within assigned program areas.
