Overview of position:
Under the overall supervision of Program Manager (Environmental Peacebuilding) & direct supervision of the Program Officer (Climate Conflict), the environmental peacebuilding program under the Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) seeks to recruit a Senior Program Administrative Assistant who will be responsible & accountable to support the implementation & management for activities centred around women within the environmental peacebuilding programs within our clients Somalia office, based in Mogadishu. The successful candidate will coordinate & monitor programmatic & administrative tasks to facilitate the successful implementation of these activities with MOIFAR, Ministry of Women & Human Rights Development & relevant administrations. The candidate will be required to work directly with communities & local government officials to prioritize, oversee & monitor environmental peacebuilding activities in the region focused on engaging these groups & their role in the society.

Role objectives:
Independently lead & coordinate the implementation of innovative programmatic activities centred on women under the community stabilization environmental peacebuilding portfolio.
Mobilize existing women’s cooperatives for inclusion in existing activities under the environmental peacebuilding portfolio.
Regularly research, follow up, compile, analyse & present information / data on national, regional & international developments, reports, legislation & other relevant documentation relating to the intersection of women & climate change, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
Monitor budget expenditures, verify availability of funds & maintain a proper record of approved project budgets & their revisions.
Coordinate & monitor the financial, administrative & technical aspects of the project in line with our clients policies & donor requirements.
Plan, coordinate & conduct capacity building workshops for relevant internal & external parties.
Participate in meetings & conferences; maintain effective liaison & coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation (UN) agencies, intergovernmental & non governmental organizations, donors & other stakeholders relevant to the project.
Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative & financial reports; ensure status reports are prepared & submitted in a timely manner.
Identify & document good practices & lessons learned, contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP’s), policies & concept papers & support the coordination & implementation of new projects.
Supervise & provide guidance & training to reporting staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Project reporting:
This role will work under the overall supervision of Program Manager (Environmental Peacebuilding) & direct supervision of the Program Officer (Climate Conflict).

Key competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, international relations, development studies, migration studies, human rights, law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience or completed high school degree from an accredited academic institution with minimum of seven years’ relevant work experience.
Experience working with the Somali government at federal, state, regional, district & local level.
Experience in the coordination & field implementation of environmental peacebuilding & / or community stabilization activities.
Experience in women centered regenerative resilience, natural resource management & the climate conflict cycle.
Familiarity with pastoral, agro pastoral & nomadic ecologies & economies.
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s), victims of trafficking & other vulnerable groups.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non government or government institutions / organization in a multi cultural setting is an advantage.
In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the organization.
Knowledge of UN & bilateral donor programming.
Knowledge of the intersection between climate change & conflict in Somalia.
Knowledge of financial rules & regulations.
For this position, fluency in English & Somali is required (oral & written).
Working knowledge of Arabic is desired.
