Reports to: Reports to Tailoring Coordinator with dotted line to the Regional SWEP Coordinator

Job Purpose

To be responsible for providing Tailoring skills training to the SWEP women

Key Responsibilities / Duties/ Tasks

  • Monitor the program and maintain relationships by communicating with the women.
  • Explore ideas for the economic empowerment of members and the proper utilisation of peer mentoring techniques to this end…
  • Recruit and supervise SWEP tailors.
  • Identify SWEP tailors training needs and facilitate workshop sessions.
  • Keep track of program activity plans and implementation schedules to ensure quality of activities and timely achievement of outputs.
  • Keep beneficiaries records and maintain registry book
  • Set assessment tests for the tailoring trainees
  • Conduct continues trainees knowledge assessment
  • Provide monthly progress reports
  • Conduct follow ups on absenteeism and dropouts
  • Update the training manuals
  • Write lesson plans and monthly planner
  • Gather customer feedback.
  • Assist SWEP team in designing new products for the SWEP Merchandise
  • Present the SWEP tailors during site visits and exhibitions
  • Participate in exhibition and trade fairs
  • Ensure Machines are regularly serviced and maintained.
  • Ensure safety measures are adhered to at all times in the workshops
  • Ensure resources needed to run the activities are requested on time and track usage
  • Organise the trainees monthly meetings
  • Assist in organising graduation ceremonies for the graduating trainees

  • Qualification in any relevant field

Kennedy Odede started Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) in 2004 with passion, 20 cents and a soccer ball. Growing up in Kibera, one of the largest slums in Africa, he experienced extreme poverty, violence, lack of opportunity, and deep gender inequality.

Women like Kennedy’s mother inspired him to build the solutions to urban poverty through addressing one if its core obstacles—the prohibitive level of gender inequality.In 2007, Kennedy met Jessica Posner, a bright and driven American student studying abroad. Together they devised the model that SHOFCO utilizes today. SHOFCO’s innovation is to link girls’ education to deeply-needed community-wide services. This increases the value of girls and women, invites both genders to participate in the solution, and allows girls’ schools to be portals for large-scale social change.

Kennedy and Jessica’s partnership is a unique, pioneering collaboration in the field of international development. Bolstered by grassroots knowledge, they have dedicated their lives to bringing hope to urban communities.
