VISIONTo be the preferred service provider in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment in the Western CapeMISSION STATEMENTTo provide specialised outcome based substance abuse prevention, out-patient treatment, capacity building and training as well as corporate services by a multi-disciplinary team, to the communities of the Western Cape. Our goal is to render substance abuse prevention and treatment services, which are geared towards creating and reinforcing healthy behaviour and lifestyle changes. This entails taking action at three levels:• Primary Prevention necessitates taking action to build resilience and prevent substance abuse problems before they occur. This proactive prevention initiative focuses on alerting the individual and the community, through awareness programmes and developmental services, of the devastating effects of substance abuse has whilst simultaneously promoting healthy, positive lifestyles. The idea is to provide training and build capacity services within communities, enabling them to assist with the implementation of primary prevention programmes under the supervision of professional staff and trained substance abuse assistants;• Secondary Prevention initiatives focus on high-risk groups such as youth and abused women and include persons in the workplace. The secondary prevention programme, which incorporates educational initiatives and life skills training, aims to reduce the severity of the consequences of substance abuse before they become even more serious. It also provides training for and builds the capacity of other professionals such as educators, nursing staff and social workers to intervene constructively;• Tertiary Prevention is directed at those who have already developed a substance abuse problem. This programme offers a comprehensive assessment service and a basket of early intervention, out-patient and in-patient as well as aftercare services to substance abusers, their families and collaterals.
