Childline is an effective nonprofit organisation that works collectively to protect children from all forms of violence and to create a culture of children’s rights in South Africa.
Childline seeks to appoint Social Workers, based in South Africa, one in Polokwane and one in Durban.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Therapy to survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) (children and adults)
- Trauma containment and psychological first aid
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Run awareness Campaigns in schools and communities
- Run group work with rape survivors and their families
- Court Preparation with rape survivors and their families
- Write court reports and be an expert witness in court
- Meet statutory obligations for GBV survivors at the TCC
- Produce Assessments and care plans including treatment strategies for clients
- Consult with doctors and other medical professionals should the need arise
- Work with clients’ families during treatment
- Refer clients to community resources
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s licence
- Computer proficiency
- BA Degree in Social Work, Current registration with SACSSP
- Knowledge and experience of the principles and practices of social work profession
- Ability to complete all relevant administrative reports
- Report writing skills
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Social Worker
- Experience in Therapy work will be beneficial
- CBO/NGO experience preferred
Knowledge
- Understanding of HIV related illnesses
- Understanding of the Thuthuzela Care Centres model and its function
- Understand the impact of sexual crimes on individuals, families and communities
- Understanding the context for sexual violence
- Understanding of Protocols to follow at the Thuthuzela Care Centre
- Understanding of Sexual Offences Courts is important
