The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned bellow.

About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 33 Zonal Branches and 131  District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee  and 5871 Kebele Red Cross  committees.

Grade:-    XI

Reporting to: – DRR/Migration and restoring family link unit

Terms of employment: Contract for one Year with possibility of extension

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure that the LLH component of the ARV project is being implemented according to palns and best practice and the objectives and target are achieved.
  • Consolidate the existing LLH framework, ensure the LLH dashboard is being used and developed, including collecting the data and updating the dashboard to enable the production of information and info graphics on monthly progress regarding beneficiaries and the market situation and data captured for proper monitoring as well as planning and selection of new beneficiaries
  • In collaboration with the project team, develop the livelihood components of the annual and quarterly work plans and reports.. Ensure that plans pertaining to the livelihood components are followed and revised accordingly, and results are captured.
  • In coordination with ERCS Migration Program Coordinator, officers and other stakeholders implement the community engagement and accountability (CEA) system including data collection, analysis, monitoring and development of feedback tools and mechanisms.
  • Enhance the capacity of community based support mechanisms including Village Saving and Credit Association (VSLA) and promote their impact for women empowerment
  • Contribute in terms of assessment and capacity building of new and existing Disaster Risk Reduction activities and economic recovery interventions.
  • Within the livelihood framework, assist with training and capacity development on sustainable livelihoods development for staff and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners, in all aspects of the project..
  • Ensure the implementation of the programme and the livelihood components in particular against the established framework that includes annual work-plan, targets, monitoring tools and result indicators.
  • Monitor project budget performance mainly on livelihood component in collaboration with project team and senior PMER officer
  • Collaborate and work closely with Senior PSS officer on issues of life skill, targeting, and supporting the most vulnerable and affected individuals.
  • Collect information and case stories on best practices and lessons learned and report to her/his supervisor and team members.
  • Collaborate and support other livelihood intervention activities set by ERCS and DRC such Micro-Economic Initiatives and economic recovery interventions
  • Carry out  other relevant tasks assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • BA degree in Economics, development studies, business management, rural development, sociology or gender studies
  • 8 years’ experience  on Livelihood programs and Income Generation activities
  • Experience with gender and diversity
  • NGOs or humanitarian organizations experience  is advantageous
  • Skill and experience in Gender mainstreaming and gender issues

Other skills & competencies      

  • Skill in one of the common data base packages  and in doing market analysis
  • Proven communication and team work skill
  • Experience with designing life skills trainings
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with little supervision
  • Skill in one of the common data base packages  and in doing market analysis
  • Proven communication and team work skill
  • Experience with designing life skills trainings
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with little supervision
