SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. Strategy and Member Support Intern

Location:

Based in Casablanca, Morocco

Mission:

The mission of the Strategy and Member Support Intern is to assist in the daily operational link between stakeholders in the SOS Children’s Villages Federation by coordinating the timely exchange of information requested and, in close collaboration with the Strategy, Legal and Member Support Advisor, to support member associations. The Strategy and Member Support Intern is to support the International Office Region and the Member Associations (MAs) in cascading the global strategy and the implementation of the strategic planning methodology. (S)he will also help to coordinate the strategic planning processes and support strategic and annual planning in the region.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

Strategic Planning, Support and Coordination

  • Support to coordinate, support and ensure the consistency of national association strategic and annual planning processes across the region. This includes specific support to the Strategy, Legal and Member Support Advisor and ensuring aligned steps and timelines across the region;
  • Assist to coordinate regional inputs on global strategic planning topics and core policy processes;
  • Facilitate General Secretariat (GSC) support planning processes;
  • Provide inputs to support on strategy relevant topics in order to develop strategy topics in alignment with national associations;
  • Assistance to strategic monitoring, strategy review, consolidation of strategic information;
  • Assist overall strategy roll-out and the development of national association’s capacity in strategic annual planning, review, monitoring and reporting. This includes also analysing regional strategic information and preparing regional management reports;
  • Collect learning regarding strategic planning approaches and methods and participate in the global strategy network.

Liaising project planning and implementation

  • Support the planning of the annual cycle of the International Office of Region and National Associations;
  • Ensure the link between planning and budgeting;
  • Support the linking of needs and funds by providing the necessary content information;
  • Process miscellaneous requests from donors and national associations and prepare non-standard special reports;
  • Project management support in public funding projects;

Information & Coordination

  • Provide general support to the Strategy, Legal and Member Support Advisor related to SOS National Associations and the interaction with the Regional and International Offices;
  • Provide information and general coordination of services and contact requested by donors and national associations;
  • Collect, check and forward standard reports to donors (e.g. Annual Report) including technical handling of database entry;

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a field of relevance to the work of SOS Children’s Villages (e.g. education; communications; management; law; social development);
  • Organised mind-set with the ability to coordinate work of different natures;
  • Passion to contribute to a leading civil society organisation focused on childcare;
  • Team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mind-set;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic. French is an asset.

We offer

  • A monthly stipend of the equivalent to 300USD;
  • Cost of transport to/from country or city of origin (airplane; bus; train).

The Strategy and Member Support Intern will be part of the International Office MENA team and reports to the Strategy, Legal and Member Support Advisor, MENA.
