SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

About the mission

At this point of time SI programming in Gedaref will be to respond to the sudden influx of people within Gedaref State as well as neighboring states following the crisis that entered Sudan in April.

Gedaref will be SI entry point to eastern Darfur but also once the situation is stabilized, to Khartoum.

Before the crisis, a CIAA funded project in consortium with Première Urgence Internationale to fight against malnutrition was about to be signed, with SI activities covering distribution of agricultural inputs, animals, items to start IGA and cash distributions.

In Geneina, SI second operational base the interventions are mostly focusing on WaSH activities in the gathering camps hosting approximately 100 000 individuals.

About the job

General objective:

The Logistician-Administrator will implement and supervise all logistics operations at his/her assigned base.

He/she will organize logistic support for programs, in keeping with Solidarités International procedures.
He/she will be responsible for a good archiving of the files in compliance with donor requirements (in addition to a coming shift to an online purchase software)
He/she will assist the base manager or the field coordinator in the implementation of safety rules.
He/she will be responsible in coordination with the field coordinator to monitor the access points for goods and persons in and out of the area of operations.
The Logistician-Administrator also carries out administrative, accounting and financial management of his/her base, in compliance with donor and SOLIDARITES International procedures (with good flexibility in a context of weak banking system).
He/she supervises accounting operations and cash management and carries out budget follow up in conjunction with the program managers.
He/she is also one of those charged with ensuring that Solidarités International’s Human Resources policy is properly implemented at the base.
He supports monitors and trains the members of his administrative team.

Your profile

Education / academic background:

Bachelor degree in a field related to finance and/or HR management

Experience:

1-year minimum experience required in logistics management (or as an assistant of logistics coordinator)
Knowledge in administrative management is an asset
Previous experiences with SI will be highly appreciated
Previous experiences in the humanitarian field and in an emergency context

Technical skills and knowledge:

Knowledge of Solidarites rules, tools and procedures is an asset in this emergency context
Management skills
Understanding, knowledges of local cultural / religious codes and habits and capacity to adapt to this environment
MS office.
Good analytical skills, ability to adapt
Good communication and diplomatic skill
Good organization skills.
Capacity to work under pressure in a tense security environment.

Language:

English is mandatory, Arabic an advantage.

SI will offer you

A SALARIED POSITION

According to experience, starting from EUR 1980 gross per month (1800 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 750

SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of assignment.

Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.

Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

LIVING CONDITIONS:

The security situation remains fluid in Khartoum and in Darfur while the situation is Gedaref has remained stable since the beginning of the conflict. Several NGOs have moved their remaining expats in Gedaref and it is thought that it will become one of the coordination hub. However the city remains isolated and the roads conditions to leave the city remain to be checked.

It is however to be noted that Sudan general situation remains of concern in terms of security and that the situation could deteriorate further in the coming weeks.
